The answer will be no (the FFP interview is also pass/fail, technically :P)

To whether a FFP interview will let you be considered for a CSP if you're not otherwise eligible on GAMSAT/GPA grounds

Ah yes, that is exactly what I was sure on until people started suggesting you didn't need to do the GAMSAT. We shall see though.

I am a bit confused. So if you get a 99.00+ atar, and you have the money to pay upfront for a full fee place - do you do the interview before you untertake biomed or after. If the interview is after, i see no point in doing biomed first and paying the 230k (other than not having to do the interview), because you could easily just stuff the interview up and then 3 years will have gone to waste and all the money spent. But if you can come up with the money and get a 99.00 atar and sit the interview before you jump into biomed then i would consider that guaranteed? How can they say it is a MD Guaranteed pathway if you still have an interview after a 3 year course and could easily screw that up(not to mention all the money you have spent).

Also what do you mean by FFP's don't guarantee internships? Why don't they? Don't you just take an interview and it is also mainly based on your medical school marks at uni?

thanks

Biomed costs 25k max and all of it can be deferred onto HECS. The "230k" (actually closer to 300k) is for the MD program after your undergraduate degree. It's a guarantee because if you meet the black and white conditions, you get the spot.

That only applies for 99+, if you're 99.9+ then it's all guaranteed and the interview is done before starting Biomed.

And FFPs don't guarantee internships because there are too many medical students graduating and the line had to be drawn somewhere. CSP spots are starting to be under pressure as well but the FFPs will be the first to go. And in Victoria your medical school marks will affect your internship, yes.

So what happens to all the students that aren't given an internship?

They have a very expensive piece of paper? They can reapply in subsequent years though

But it's a gamble^ isn't it, stick? Because you're not even guaranteed an internship
Also, what determines whether or not you get an internship? Just your grades throughout the course?

Funkyducky, of course try for the CSP, but don't let money get in the way of taking a FFP place! If medicine is really what you want to do, money won't matter - you will find a way to pay the fee. Please don't miss out on your chance at medicine just because of this!!! :)

This is not a good way to think of it, be very careful with commitments like this

Nah a 99.9+ guarantees you a CSP spot as long as you pass all your subjects. I' don't think you need to do an interview and you definitely don't need to do the GAMSAT. And a CSP guarantees an internship, doesn't it?

You need to pass the interview but it's held just after ATAR results come out. CSPs used to have a guaranteed internships but given the trend, not by the time you get there. They've only guaranteed them till 2015 afaik.

Looking at Melb Uni tables, this is what a CSP amounts to; $37,700.

Look, no offence pal, but you're in year 10 and I'm not sure you understand that for some people $250,000 is an amount they can afford.

My big brother was offered a FFP and parents took out a second mortage to help him. It's not possible to take  FFP without rich/helping parents.
