You'll be amazed at how much you can achieve in 2 weeks if you seriously set your mind to it

Not very. Try doing a few hours of hw each day and you should be able to catch up before school starts! And maybe by doing some homework/study you might gain some motivation or confidence to continue studying or maybe even aim to do well?

It's now 3 days until school time, I haven't begun any homework. Although I've read my English texts, I am pretty terrible at essays and had to re-sit every single English SAC last year.

I would like to get a 78 ATAR for electrical engineering, keep in mind, to me, this is like getting a 99 for some of you guys.

Do you think that if I were to work consistently I could get back on track?

I can't see why people bother with university when trades such as electrician make an equal wage with a lesser time of study?

I would like to believe that most people go to university not for the money in the end result, but to pursue their passions and what they love doing. One of the reasons why I want to go to university is because of my love for knowledge. (:
If being an electrician interests you then go for it. However if your passion lies in something which requires a university degree, you shouldn't let the factor of money which a trade earns compared to your desired job influence you. :)

That's absolutely true. Although, I see a whole lot of people that are striving for status elevating degrees?
Who really finds a commerce degree an optimal use of their time? are people really enchanted by finances?

...You can find lectures from some of the world's greatest minds on fora.tv, and yet I don't see people using this as a substitute to university?

Dude stop it! From tmro, get off an, stop feeling sorry for yourself and GET YOUR HOMEWORK DONE.
Honestly, everyone here seems madly pro but I'm sure many of us are  in this situation... Some to a lesser extent than others :P

And two weeks is the same as the 1/2 or term 3/4 holidays... Heaps of time! XD
I know, says me who wastes my life on irc but seriously, you can do this! You just need to be self-motivated and need to tell yourself to get full into year 12 mode now. If u picked up a pen these holis, you're in front of 50% of the state already! Or so I like to tell myself...

This is your last chance to try your hardest at school so make the most of it! :)
Best of luck. And clean your desk and make a list if u can't think of where to begin maybe :P

And develop a passion - research career options! 90s don't necessarily guaranteed best life in the future - you could do just as well in whatever u want to do. Set a goal! :)
Happy enough after one hell of a year.

I would like to believe that also, but I've been on ATAR Notes for a while now ... you know the rest :)

Lots of people go to university because many positions now have a bachelor level degree as the minimum requirement, even though they don't really need tertiary trained people (inflation of certifications).

If you are interested in a trade, by all means go for it.
