I'm looking at a major in Mechanical Systems, and then a Masters in Mechanical Engineering.

That is, if I can figure out how to use this subject selection thing...

The plan is to do a Civil Systems major and then do a Master of Civil Engineering.

Then one day I will make a bridge and you will all use it and you will all thank me.

...I will one day design a car and you will all drive it over SDPHD's bridge and praise the ride quality and maybe thank me too :P

Bsc Graduates will change the world :)

IF they know what they want to do! BSc grads without a clue will just waste a valuable spot in uni for someone with a direction, me thinks! :(

It's a very popular course so hopefully everyone knows where they want to go!

BSc represent! ;)

Probably maths and statistics
afterwards I'd like to get into the MD, but I'm also thinking of a Masters in Commerce, JD or a Masters in Science

also, did anyone else choose Science over biomed despite having an ATAR above the clearly-in?

I always had science as my top preference, even though I could've done biomed.

yeah same, the only thing I would want out of all the things Biomedicine sets you up for is Medicine, and that's only for the UoM MD, and I could do that with the Science course anyway. At least with Science, if I decide Medicine isn't for me, or if I don't get a position in a med school, I can always fall back on some of my other interests.

It's because not enough people are doing science subjects, so the government is subsidising their cost in order to encourage more people to do them.

Hasn't the government dropped maths and science off the national priority list for 2013? Means science subjects will cost just over $1000 next year too.

I was always interested in the physical and mathematical sciences, not in doing medicine.

Band 2 student contribution reinstated for maths and science

Quote
The estimated maximum HECS contribution for students enrolled in these units will be $8,353 in 2013. The estimated National Priority rate is $4,691 in 2013.

Students who commence their course between 1 January 2009 and 31 December 2012 will not be affected by this change and will continue to pay a reduced student contribution amount until 31 December 2015.

Class of 2011 is lucky :)

Pharmacology, physiology and bits of evolutionary biology and philosophy on the side.

Hopefully i get into postgrad med. Research looks nice and its a nice thought but for all the extra work and time of a PhD a lot of people think it isn't really worth it, the monetary compensation anyway..

I (and some others) discussed that idea here - A career in academia? .

If not with a major like pharmacology i could probably break into private industry (assuming the nay-sayers on whirlpool are wrong and that there are actually jobs available but those guys are insanely negative). So, i'd be better off than a lot of other majors people choose.

Pimping is looking pretty damn good though..

Would i be stupid if i said: major in something biology related..like microbiology, infection and immunology, human structure and function, or neuroscience, or major in civil systems...

then meander a little after graduation...

and then jump into diploma of advertising at RMIT? lol....only when i've failed at advertising, or so seriously in need of cash that im begging the streets, i will go and do engineering...

SIGH. i dnt WANT a science job at all! at least...not now...i might find a passion whilst im at uni...but meh...chances are slim :P

I found my passion for vet sci after my first year at uni. So I transfer to University of queensland vet :)
A lot changes every year, you can only find something you like if you experience a little bit of it.

After that, my plans for the future is to be awesome.

Hot Chick:  So what do you do at uni?
Me:  I'm a maths student.
Hot Chick:  Please excuse me while I take off all my clothes.
