Wouldn't you just love it, if you were in year 11, and got a 50 for a 3/4 subject? *dreamy sigh*

I tried, but I failed :P LOL!

It definitely is. What did you study in GMA this year? :)

Didn't do GMA. Didn't know what it was until halfway through the year when this guy at my school told me he's taking GMA tuitions lol. I was so clueless, because our school doesn't offer it. But I don't think it'll impact me too much next year, because I've already done methods *fingers-crossed*  :)

Read this at the start of year 11 already ~ I was pretty anxious, being up against the year 12s, so I thought I might as well  :)

Hmm... Each school teaches Year 11 Maths in a very weird manner... I know a lot of schools (including mine) omit topics from the Methods and GMA course. I believe Unit 1 GMA is meant to relate more to Methods in that it has a stronger focus on algebra, but Unit 2 is quite helpful. Our school was smart to teach the first four topics of the Specialist course in Unit 2, hence why I'm able to do so much of the headstart work on my own. If your school doesn't offer GMA, you probably can't be disadvantaged, because everyone's in the same boat as you are and your school has probably run successful Specialist classes under this system in the past.

That's true. In 2011, I think we managed two 50s in specialist. And given that only about 6 people (maximum I think) took the subject, that's pretty good.  :)

That is amazing! The only subjects which students consistently perform exceptionally well in at my school are Biology and Methods.

YES.. :')
I wanted it for Psychology but I think I lost too many marks on the mid-years for a 50 :(
And methods, won't even happen, I'd be surprised to get a 40 raw tbh.

We have the same 3/4s :D

Haha - we DO have the same 3/4s lol! That's pretty awesome  ;)
Don't worry about the mid-year for psych, did you make up for lost marks in the end-of-year do you think? Hmm - I'm beginning to second guess my extended response now, after seeing the 2012 VCAA marking guide for it somewhere on AN ~ we were supposed to define terms like phobia/systematic desensitisation  :-\

Oh god. I don't think I defined them either. (Where do you that in a report anyway...? I've already forgotten everything about psychology).
Yeah I think I did make it up... Hopefully LOL - but I'd have to pretty much have to almost ace the unit 4 for a 50 so not depending on that. At all. LOL. But if I at least match my score, I shouldn't get anything under 45 so I'd still be proud of that as it was my initial goal. ^_^

It was my fault for not preparing for another research methods extended response - people were insistent that it was going to be on theory, so damn my naivety. :( I'll know better to not trust trends at least! Tricky VCAA haha

Yeah, don't worry about it. Judging by last year's extended response (which was pretty much the same :P), they didn't allocate marks for defining the key terms. It's something I don't think many people would've done anyway  :)

Don't think so haha. Hmm, think you'd be familiar with a couple of guys I know who did spesh and are now doing MBBS at Monash, but I don't want to name them here lol.

Which campus? WH or St. Kilda?

Biomedicine isn't a bad pathway, I reckon it's definitely the pathway of the future, more and more universities are now adopting graduate entry programs, which is great because, to be honest, most kids don't know what they want to be when they're in Y12, so having a model like UoM's allows them a bit more time to work out what they want to do.

If they decide MD isn't where they want to go, they still have other professional courses such as Dentistry, Optometry...etc. as well as doing Hons/Masters -> PhD or doing a DipEd and going into teaching, or even entering the workforce with a Biomedicine degree and working as a lab technician or demonstrator.

No, I think you misunderstood my statement. What I was suggesting was that despite people's best efforts to get into the MBBS program at Monash, no one at my school has been able to get in yet. :P
