Epic life story
I don't want my language to die either
I still speak Tamil to all my uncles and aunties which is cool. Even with family friends the awesome that only we can understand is that some things just sound soooo much funnier in Tamil!! Haha.
So you just suddenly started speaking English to all of your family? That's weird for me. I can't change main languages after meeting someone. I could never speak english to my uncles and aunties haha, it would just sound weird.
Especially Tamil comedy, if you look at the subtitles it looks relatively boring, but if you understand it, and the delivery is good, you'll be in stitches haha.
What school do you go to? Speak to your friends in Tamil
, surely there are a couple of Tamil guys and girls there
On a side note, I wonder if Lanka is very different to India. I guess India is more developed (no offence intended hahah) now because of all that civil war stuff from before.
Yeah it's pretty interesting, hey?

Nah it's the same situation with my friends and family friends.. our parents speak tamil but we just kinda respond in english.. and idk it'd just be awks speaking to them in tamil since we've always spoken to eachother in english!
And I've always spoken to my mum's side people in english, because they've always known english. I used to speak tamil with my dad's side, but that was in 03.. I never really spoke to them again since last year's holiday.. a huge 8 years, so honestly it just felt like I'd always spoke to them in english
And that's another reason I wanna learn tamil! Sometimes when we're watching tamil movies, me and my sisters read the subtitles with no reaction, and then you see my parents in stitches just dying of laughter because it's so funny. And then there's the times they try to translate tamil jokes into english. It's just awks.
I go to a public school.. there are lankans, but most don't speak tamil
And I'm not sure how India is, but you'd be surprised at how much has changed in lanka in terms of modernisation and all that.. But then again, I can't compare to India cos I've never been there. Haha, and I'm not offended because it probably is more developed than India.. Although Lanka's not really trailing that far behind from what I've heard and seen haha
