+1. this. i think its important to try your very best in all your subjects, and aim for the best, but it is important to keep it inside imo. i have a friend who was adamant that he would get a 50 and a premiers award in further and he spread the word throughout the year, and ended up with a 45 come the 17th. not that a 45 is bad (its incredible) but he himself says that the experience would have been eased if he never mentioned trying to get 50. too much addition external pressure to succeed. dont do that to yourself. its ok to say you want a 50 to your teachers/family/very very close friends, but dont announce it. it makes it so much harder to actually achieve it.

even by mentioning my ambitions for a 50 to my parents and very close friends, it still has put pressure on me whenever i picture what next year will be like, so i think it's just better to keep it in, i would have at least, i don't even think anyone at my school has even gotten a raw 50 before.

Well guys, I really, really, wholeheartedly don't want to encourage rule breaking with this post (or what rules there may be). If there is no explicit instruction to your year level at an assembly that says "don't post your essays online" then there's no reason why you can't post essays until you are warned. My teacher knew I posted essays and thought my enthusiasm was great. I dunno what your teachers are thinking but why should they begrudge you a chance to improve? In my opinion it's one of the best resources on AN. I know you're all math-crazy but at the end of the day you can YouTube stuff, google stuff etc, but the English thread is a God send. I strongly encourage you not to defy whatever boundaries you think there are -for now- and post what you please so you can get sick feedback and just see if you get warned for it. There's not a chance that they'll fail an Area of Study based on you seeking online help and if they don't fail you, it's all good. Chances are you'll be the top students as well so just bat your eyelids or something. #anarchy2013

Oh, but wait a minute here - my best friend got a 50 in English this year (Emily Ban, look it up bitchezzzzzzz) and I netted a 46 . Go hard, son.

english is one of those subjects i've never really gotten, i'm just uninspired really.

i saw someone that i knew from primary who goes to p12 comment or something about her on fb, i also saw in the herald sun list! (i was checking out all the schools in the area haha!)
so much jealousy, must have boosted up her atar! congrats on your marks btw, was lurking on your post thanking everyone on AN and felt so proud even though we didn't know eachother!

lucy, hoping theres only one in your year so you know who im taking about, haha! went to primary with her, also know a couple of year 11s there.
i'm not in narre warren, used to live there tho, i was meant to go SFX but since i moved i wasn't in the post code zones, so i'm at st peters instead.
