I don't know if I'm making this thread for any particular purpose or to vent some rage but I just want to talk about my experience with my internet service provider over the last few days.
Firstly my house has two internet devices, a wireless network from a home gateway device (family access) and an elite wireless device (for myself). The family gets access to 12gb a month for an excessive amount of ~90. I spend ~50 for 3gb every 1-2 weeks.
Sadly this costs me a lot of money, and I was faced with the option of only being able to complete online units to be able to gain a tertiary qualification. However with such a small amount of usage for such an excessive cost I find that I would be unable to watch lectures or be able to participate in discussions with others completing similar degrees for information. If worse comes to worse, I may have to move away, however that in itself will cost a lot of money.
I went to my local member of parliament, and they talked to Telstra Country (if you hadn't guessed my provider yet) who later contacted me today questioning me on details of my account and so forth and came to the conclusion that I would not be able to get ADSL due to excessive data loss. I was wondering if anyone has been put in a similar situation to this and how they may have gone around it. The local TAFE does deakin courses, but being limited to only business and accounting courses, whereas I want to major in information technology I feel my choices limited at this current time.
