How is the GAT graded? I did one for just the multiple choice and I got 48/70. I lost 5 marks for the math related questions and the rest for them for the interpreting diagrams and analyzing texts. Also can you even study for the GAT?

You get a score for each area (written communiction, etc.). Only way you can study for it is to go over previous GAT's. But honestly it isn't worth studying for. Don't let this little 'exam' add to your stress levels during VCE. All you need to do is get an average score to cover your a$$ in the scenario that you cannot sit an exam. It ain't hard to get an average score when every student in Victoria sits the same paper.

Yeah, I'll just do a couple of more multiple choice sections so I get used to the types of questions. I think I can improve a couple of marks here and there. I'll be satisfied if I can get 50/70 for multiple choice, I just want to improve slightly in the Humanities section because it's the only section I need to get decent in.

Don't waste your time studying lol, you'd be better spending that time looking blankly at a wall for a couple of hours, no joke.

I think i'm just going to wing it. I'm not expecting a high score considering there will be a Mathematic component to it.

Considering your not going Maths in VCE, that component barely matters for you anyway (if at all!) :)

VCAA themselves state that no study is required for the GAT.

Because it is a general test, no special study is required for the GAT. Students will already have done preparation for the GAT in past study of subjects like English, Mathematics, Science and History

...

note that all the information needed to work out the right answer is provided.

So yeah, I wouldn't bother even worrying about it, just rock up on the day and get it over and done with.
