How does one move into the right wing by 25%?
It's really not that hard to quantify..., but I believe that being raped once is not as bad as being raped five times, even if the one rape was by a gang of people.

I'd normally vote Labor on principle, but the party really does have its head stuck up its ass at the moment.  On the flip side, Abbott is the worst PM candidate I can ever remember us having.

Greens.

Judging by the ATARNotes opinion poll, we're going to have another hung government.

2PP Vote. Atarnotes.
Labor = 45%
Liberal = 55%

I personally like a Hung Parliament, its more democratic. They can't just simply rubber stamp legislation like they did back in the old Howard Years. *ahem Workchoices*. They have to negotiate and offer representation to various segments of society.It's what democracy all about people. Like Abraham Lincoln once said "The government should be  of the people, for the people,and by the people".

If  the people were for the people, would they be of the people or by the people?

Hung parliament is bad.

Also, I really disagree that government should be "democratic" and by the people...government that is for the people is a different thing than government that's by the people

Theres a thread nina made from feburary 2012. It shows about 60% are asians. including indians and middle easterns.

Well whenever it gets near Mid-years/end of years this forum SURGES with like 800% more activity. and then dies as soon as the exams are over, so I would asume the largest proportion of users here are VCE students.

It'd be nice if you found the topic :P
Also, how can that even be accurate, there's no way to sample the whole population of AN, unless you made everyone answer and answer honestly.

It doesn't go up by 800%, check the activity records on "More Stats" - like Dan said, it's closer to 300%, but either way, that actually doesn't show anything, many older students return during exam time as well, to help VCE students as well as to talk about that year's VCE Exams, so it's more of a uniform increase across the board rather than a surge of only Year 12 students.

You don't understand how politics works at all do you?!

No, it preferences to whoever you put as your second preference on the ballot slip.

If you're talking about the current deal between Labor and the Greens, where the Greens are supporting Labor in the House, then that's not the same either, because the Greens do often vote against Labor. An example is the Malaysia Refugee swap, the only reason why Labor could not pass it in the house is because Adam Bandt (the Green MP) would vote against it.

Similarly with independents, they can vote however they like, which means that even though they're giving Labor their support, they still don't have any obligations to vote with Labor.

I personally like a Hung Parliament, its more democratic.

No, hung parliaments mean that governments cannot get anything done, it also means that the independents supporting the government have too much power. It's like Andrew Wilkie and his Pokies Reform, if it wasn't for Labor gaining Harry Jenkins from the speakership and installing Peter Slipper, they would have had to bow down to Andrew Wilkie's demands, just because without his support, they will fall.

I don't see how hung parliaments are more democratic, you can't ever represent everyone because that is just conflicting, what a government should aim for is equity, not equality.

How come it just looks like whenever the Greens don't win a seat, all their votes get transfered over to the Labor guy?

Honestly not keen for anyone.

Greens have some good policies sometimes, but I don't like their total opposition to Nuclear energy/largely too aggressive environmental agenda, nor their foreign policies, and a few other tidbits.

Liberals and Labour are both pretty shit atm, as has been largely discussed before.
If I had to make a vote at the next election, would probably go Liberal, but ONLY because imo they're the lesser of two evils.

Greens voters typically give their preferences as Green > Labor > Independent > Liberal.
