Going to Melbourne High and reading this forum means that I get a very warped view of how "easy" the exam was supposed to be.

But even I'm not stupid enough to think 95% is going to be the A+ cut off LOL, wtf you guys smoking.

oh my god people.

I love you, but honestly,

THIS IS ATARNOTES NOT THE REAL WORLD. :)

chances are... (hopefully, im still trying to convince myself tooo...) most of the state did not ace that exam. *gulp*

I know for sure I didn't. But it's time to stop moping and get back on that horse! (lol)

Seriously, I made notes for chem (which were trash) and had them pretty much done before the start of term. I nearly finished checkpoints, i did many practice exams. My sac marks have been A+ average.

but I screwed that up.

BUT I AM NOT GOING TO GIVE UP.

Come on guys, don't let vcaa screw you over! this exam isn't the end of the world. I was just talking to romperait who said he screwed up unit 3 as well. And he did terrifically in the end.

Just get out there and ace the second exam (which he.. claims to be easier).

And lol Sam_95, no one hates themselves more than i do for picking chem probs. I picked it up FROM UNIT 2 from probably pure arrogance. But it doesn't matter, this is just another hurdle that you can overcome. Thank god there was a midyear for us (unlike the poor kids last year).

Woops, kind of went off on a tangent.

respect!! well said

Somewhere in the mid 40's I reckon. Definitely a 40 for those scores.

Yeah Kev...just be VERY careful about what you say over here especially at this time when people are feeling depressed about their exams. I see how you meant this as a joke, but it was undoubtedly very inappropriate. Tisaraiscool would have felt very hurt by that. But it's good you apologised and everything and saw your error there, so it's all good. Just a heads up.

So one of my friends accidentally used pencil instead of using a pen for his chemistry exam, will he be penalised for this?

No. Although the examiners prefer you to write in pen, they will not penalise you for writing in pencil. Pencil is harder to read than pen so if you have to read multiple exams all written in pencil it can become straining. Pencil also poses the problem that it could be rubbed out. I'm sure they won't penalise you, but just don't make the same mistake next exam.

Could IR Spec be used in any possible way to determine the purity of Propyl Propanoate? And, could the different orientations of the protein and nylon polymers be due at all to: symmetry of the nylon monomers and asymmetry of amino acids caused by polar functional groups? I was a bit clueless with those questions so blurted out those improbable responses. =[

Is it likely the examiners will give consequential marks if you got part a. wrong, but applying the right methods using the wrong data in part b. and c.??
