obvious troll is obvious

Not sure if the troll is Flying Emu or paulsterio though... (or both)

You could find the mean if the major topic heading was something along the lines of "Average time people wake up".

what basic detail do you not get that keeps you so obsessed with this average?

Both of you seem equally obsessed with this average :P

This. Who honestly cares?

ON-TOPIC:

Back when I was in school, I tried to get 11.30pm sleep to wake up at ~6am, worked well for me :) I'd recommend to try and get 6-8hrs total :)

Maybe lie awake for about 15mins, I'm lucky in that I get to sleep pretty well :)

one of the year 12's from last year (asian musician, vincent or something can't remember or victer) passionately advocated for 8 hours sleep minimum (Y)

I know that guy (if he's the one who spoke to you at assembly) pretty well, he aint getting that much sleep now though :P

Too busy out partying at halls obviously, I'll remember to ask him how the lesser amount of sleep is treating him :P

I never was meaning to be funny, you asked me if I was jelly. I typed jelly into wikipedia and found that I am not jelly, so that's what I decided to tell you.

Your still not funny or cool in anyway -.-'

There there, no need to get angry now, just not getting your way now are you?

Feel better about your self now?

If you are having problems sleeping, perhaps you could masturbate before you go to bed? Works for me, man. (im srs)

I think you've taken "getting up" in the wrong way.

No not really. I was giving the guy advice on how to sleep more quickly so he can wake up earlier feeling refreshed. This is the technique which I personally use. It works wonders for me.

During school, anywhere from 11.3opm-2am bedtime and an 8am wake-up assuming I am on time to school.
Holidays. 4am-6am bedtime with around a 3pm wake-up assuming there's nothing else to do during the day. (Y)

I will PM you, I don't want to derail this topic again

Anyways, I've done some research on sleep cycles and apparently the human body clock isn't exactly 24 hours, so when they put people in an enclosed room and observed their behaviour, they slept at slightly off the same time everyday, with it getting more and more off every day.

I'm an early riser. Usually anywhere between 4-6am. Anything after 6 is considered sleeping in and anything before 4 is considered being up early.

i would imagine the brain can recalibrate it according to sunlight and darkness.
Definitely the natural way for humans to sleep is during the night, as humans have poor night vision

You guys might find this interesting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic_sleep#Biphasic_sleep

and also, this guy slept 3 hours a day, split into 6 intervals for around 6 months, with no real adverse affects http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2005/10/polyphasic-sleep/
