Thanks TT for the info. Is that because of the bell curve? Or, is it a lecturer's discretion to add extra 1 or 2 marks to award a P instead of a fail?

discretion if they feel sorry enough for you :p

okay what the
I got 3 passes for all my comm subjects and a fucking distinction for maths
LOL fml. I can't believe MATHS was my highest score. and i didnt even get credits. but 10 minutes ago i thought I was gonna fail so meh.

My GPA is 1.5 atm and WAM 61.250
that's pretty shit right?
Can I still get this up to something one would consider 'fairly good?' and make it look like it never happened?
All the whilst being realsitic (im not gonna turn my game around and get 99HDs next sem or something)

Haha dw man I got steamrolled in AFC as well. Yeah that GPA and WAM is shithouse, but with level 2 and 3 units the subjects are worth twice as much as first year units when it comes to WAM, so you can bring that back up pretty quickly. GPA on the other hand may take 2-3 semesters to bring up to something good (3+)

A friend of mine failed all four units in first semester first year, and pulled back with straight 90+ in all the rest of his subjects in semester two. Applied for an IT consultant internship at ANZ, explained that he did shit all in semester one, but knows he can do very well when he applies himself, as show with his results turning around, and got the job despite a reasonably poor GPA and WAM. Whilst ridiculously unfair, I think that's a much better story in an interview than a student that just got straight 80s all throughout his/her degree,

AFC1000 82 HD (Principle of Accounting)

BTC1110 73 D   (Business Law)

ECC1000 85 HD (Principles of Micro)

ETC1000 72 D   (Bus. Stats)

So all in all, yeah, pretty good, I thought I'd do worse.  :)

Now...to do a TT next semester....

That is going in the quotes of the century. We have just experienced some linguistic evolution there.

Furthermore I'm glad you didn't forget the 'a' in that sentence haha.

LOL, I'm dreaming haha.

I actually just found out that my exam which I just had doesn't actually get  a "grade". In fact, nothing I do until I finish second year gets a formal grade (as assessment of MED2000 - a hurdle subject):
MED1011: 12.5%
MED1022: 12.5%
MED2031: 27.5%
MED2042: 27.5%
First VIA Examination: 20%

So yeah, the exam that I just had which is worth 5% of MED1011, suddenly means a lot less as it's 5% of that 12.5% :P

Hey guys. What would your suggestion be if you failed a first year core unit that is not essential as a pre-requisite?

Which one is it? Macro?

If it's required for your Major, I'd do it again, as you'll probably do better in it (if you change your attitude/circumstances are improved). If it's not a requirement, just move on with your course as if you passed it, but have a think about overloading/doing summer units in the future.

^You mean, Principles of Accounting and Finance? (AFC1000). If so, that thing is a core subject. That means you definitely have to redo it. However, if you fail this, it probably means that you're not gonna do an accounting major. So my suggestion to you, is redo this thing to get a pass, and that's it, I guess.

Yeah you're gonna definitely have to redo afc1000 if you fail that, it's a compulsory unit, no exemptions allowed.

Yup I know. But would it be better to put it off till the end? cause It's not a prerequisite for anything I'm doing next sem and next year or to just finish it while I still remember most of what I've learnt?
