People asking what others got on their exam

Arghh,

Some ****ing people in my god damn school are blatantly asking what others got on their exam.

This guy, who we will call ****, asks me, 'Oh how did you go on the exam?'. I answer with, 'Oh, that's not an appropriate question to ask'. He replies with, whilst having the most annoying smile, 'Oh, But my question is appropriate, Are you in the top 6% of the state?'. I gave him the look and then I just give him the same answer and he just goes off, with a smile that blatantly says This guy (Meaning me) must've done really bad fucking shit, I'm so happy!

I'll be blunt and say that I do feel better knowing that I didn't turn into a complete fucking dick headjerk like the guy in the story. *Sigh*, If it was up to me, and we weren't in school, I would've called him a fucking dick head for asking people and for him trying to drop subtle hints on statistics and other stuff bull shit, just to see how other people went.

/END RANT

Don't mind my language, I really am in a pissed off mood right now.

EDIT: I don't want any fucking trolls here.

EDIT 2: Changed wording as I am no longer in a bad mood. -______________-

If people ask you how you went, just say that you were happy. That's what my circle of friends do, we don't really discuss exact marks unless there's a reason to (eg i got 3/10 on the quiz, what the hell went wrong)

Ergh, it's horrible isn't it?
It's really none of their business what anyone but themselves got and what do people really have to gain in the long term by knowing your score?  It's just so stupid.
Atleast for me, people at my school know I don't really like discussing marks so they rarely ask and when they do I just say 4.
Person: "Hey what did you get on your exam?"
Me: "4"

Don't worry, if this person is truly someone who continues to act like that throughout their life and carries such a mindset they will get what's coming. I do not hope badness on this person but if they continue they are just waiting for it to happen.

I hate it when people play the numbers game, and the way he's going about it terrible. Just ignore people like that, they're not worth your time.

And if they keep trying to egg you on, then just say it's none of their business.

It doesn't really help in the long-term anyway. People who often ask around are often looking for "competitors" that may have scored better than them, from my experiences.

Yeah, I know, I think the best thing to say is 'sorry, don't want to discuss my marks.'

Oh, but here's my experiences. I went to MHS, which of course, is pretty competitive. But what I discover is that people are open to saying what their marks are in MHS. So like, if someone asks me 'hey, what'd u get?', I just answer them, and then I'd probably ask them what they got. I don't think me and other MHS people (that I know, at least), have any problems telling what our marks are, but I think that's just due to the (slightly) competitive culture that we have.

I'd agree with this, everyone tells people what they got (even if it's a relatively low mark like one of my friends got) and we're all pretty supportive of one another, I think it makes it easier for people who did worse then they expected when they know they're not going to get ridiculed by their friends or anything.

That said, that guy seems like a douche, even if he got an A+ he wouldn't know for sure he's in the top 6% of the state as an A+ is like top 10-11% (yes that part bothered me :P), in future you should just tell him "you are a douche" and walk away lol.

Yeah my year level at my school (including me) don't seem to mind talking about what marks we get. I think though we'd accept it if someone said they didn't want to tell them.

It gives those people confidence socially to think that they did better than you. It's honestly quite pathetic in most cases.

yeah, like a couple people have said here I don't really think that its the simple question which is irritating, most of our year level talk about and offer congratulations/condolences

I think its more people who as you've described ask with the sole purpose of showing that they're better than you. But I guess they get their just desserts in the end, pretty much everyone knows who they are and most people don't particularly enjoy their company

Normally when people I dislike ask me about my score, I just reply that I failed horribly and act emo. That way they'll feel good about themselves and probably end up being overconfident and getting a lower mark on their next test.

Planing Ahead.

Whenever people ask me that I just tell them what I got because I feel like I have nothing to be ashamed of, especially if I do bad I like to just rub it off and laugh about what a failure I am :)
