Hey do any of you know about the Bachelor od Philosophy/Doctor od Medicine course at ANU. Is that still a thing??? and if so where do you find info about it???

Hey.

I couldn't seen to find any joint program (like Monash) or any scholar program (like Melbourne). From looking at their Doctor of Medicine & Surgery degree, it functions as any other grad-entry scheme, based upon GPA, GAMSAT score, and interview score. They do offer a Bachelor of Philosophy if you achieve an ATAR of 99 or above. Finally, they do offer other science courses with slightly friendlier ATARs too. Good luck with whatever you wish to do.

95 UMAT, expected ATAR of 98+ and possibly 99 (my school won't tell us our predicted scores). Chances?

Man, yesterday was a wreck. Take care everyone.

Not as experienced as some here, but from looking at past threads and whatnot, you've made yourself pretty competitive. Good luck.

Interviews are mainly either MMI or panel. An MMI is where you rotate through a number of rooms, each with a different interviewer, a scenario and associated questions where you have to solve a problem/explain something etc etc. Nearly all of the 'interview' in the MMI will be solely focused on that scenario, so you can't really draw upon personal attributes. A panel type interview is more 'traditional', where a number of interviewers ask you questions for about 40 minutes. These interviews tend to be more focused upon your personal motivations, attributes and skills, however they usually also ask a problem-solving scenario.

Pretty much all uni's forbid interviewees to bring anything like references/awards/testimonials etc. into the interview with them- so I wouldn't bring them if offered an interview.

I was wondering, one of my friends got an 58% percentile, another 62% percentile and lastly a 65% percentile. They are all expected to get 95 plus in their ATAR and are hoping to get into Adelaide Uni (Note: they are all South Australian and non-rural). Is there still a chance for any of them to get in, all are willing to bond themselves.

Ita weird because the UMAT only makes up 20% whereas the interview and ATAR are 40% each!

Sorry for answering everyone's questions in one massive post and being rather concise/blunt (have an assignment due soon and I've left it too late per usual) :/

Man, yesterday was a wreck. Take care everyone.
I'd say you have very high chance of getting an interview with 95umat/99atar. Provided you do decently in your interview, a spot in the new MD course at Monash could very likely be yours! :) congrats on a great score
(interstate: Adelaide uni would look very highly on your 95 umat, UNSW may require a high 99s ATAR)

if you get an interview, what are we actually meant to say??? like do we need to bring awards and stuff ?
Deuce answered this pretty well, but I do suggest having a look around online for some general interview tips.
It's not really about bragging (at the interview stage, they already know you're smart and are a good student), but more about presenting the personal qualities/characteristics that doctors should have, e.g. compassion, curiosity, justified decision marking etc.
To be honest though, there is no yes or no answer to the questions, nothing that you are "meant to say", interviewers take numerous interviews and anecdotally I'm telling you they surely won't want to hear generic answers.
(may I also suggest having a look at this post if you want some free interview training: Re: UMAT Discussion Thread 2016)

Sidenote: Deuce do I know you?!? (acrep here ;) )

Disclaimer: I am not from SA so please take what i say with a grain of salt
When I attended the interviews (first round, interstate), nearly everyone I met had 90+.... so I'd say the 58 and 62%ile friends would unlikely get a spot in MBBS (bonded or not) at Adelaide Uni. Although UoA does prefer to take SA students, it really is quite competitive and their scores probably will be too low.

While for the 65%ile friend, if his/her ATAR is very high (unfortunately i don't think 95+ will cut it, more like a high 98/99s) and they also perform very well in the interview, they'd have a chance of getting into Adelaide Uni

Thanks mtse, I happen to be the one in the trio who got the very average 65% percentile. I am currently sitting on an A+ for psychology, geography (20 credit) and Religion (10 credit) along with A's for Biology and Physical Education. I assume
that will get me a high ATAR (possible merits in my A+ subjects)

I'm worrying my ass off but knowing there is a slither of hope has made me feel a lot better!

Good luck with your assessment, good to know nothing changes in that department after school.....

Those UMAT score are a tad low for Med just about anywhere in Australia but there is a glimmer of hope for the 65th Percentile (there is one person in my cohort that has a similar UMAT). There might be a slight chance for the others as well as long as they get well above 95( I'm talking about 99.75+). For Victorians, like myself, we are told that Adelaide requires high UMAT (99+) but locals should have a better end of the stick :)

Remember: Although the UMAT makes up 20% of the overall score they use to give you a spot in the course, it is a hurdle to actually get an interview.

Griffith has famously kept the cutoff at 99 for the past few years.

I believe it was 99.80. Some with 99.75 managed to get a place.

Section 1 was brutal
I did worse at section 3
It went as I expected in terms of hierarchy
section 2 was best, then 1, then 3  :)
