mm
good sacs (96ish), will scale up
36/40
77/80

sm
good sacs (97ish), will scale up
37/40
77+/80

pls respond
i gather 45 is about as high as methods can go? spec 47 still possible?
how badly can losing 3 marks on (either) paper 1 cook your SS?
apparently methods cut off is expected to be a few lower than last years?

specialist
ga 1 95
ga 2 40/40
what score would i need in exam 2 to get 42?
thanks!
Nice work on your GA2 score!
I'd say low 70's (71-73) should be good provided the A+ cut-off is in the high 60's (67-69). Obviously try to aim higher though since you're in a great position to do better!

Methods: ~45 is about the range you're looking at I reckon (Methods A+ cutoff will be lower for Exam 2 compared to last year so it gives you more leeway imo).

Specialist: It'll be very tough except I don't think a 77/80 will yield a 47 (I reckon 45-46 is what you could possibly be looking at if Exam 2 provided VCAA doesn't dish up something like last year for example but a higher Exam 2 can of course push it higher).

As for losing three marks, depends on the A+ cut-off and what you're aiming for... aiming for 38-43, it shouldn't do too much damage but aiming for 45+ will do quite a bit since it does get bunched up towards the top end.

A+ cutoffs are the worst... My SACs are 95 methods rank 4 and 87 spech rank 2(should scale up as pretty much everyone rank 10+ got 36+/40). I hope the cutoffs are more like 2008 and not at all like last year.

Oh wow, was the spesh exam that easy this year? Like I know it was easier than last years exam one imo (if I corrected mine correctly, i got 7 marks more than what I got in exam 1 last year lol), but damn there's not much room for silly mistakes :?

Methods
GA1: 100%
GA2: 39-40/40 (39 is worst case)
GA3: 78-80/80 (78 is worst case)

Specialist

If I full mark Exam 2, can I still cut a 48 given say 38 for Exam 1?

I thought it was a fair exam but what can you do... there is always going to be ~2-4 percent of people getting full marks. and that is what determines your score in the end. So not acing exam 1 pretty much removes possibilities for anything 47+ because of this, unless of course you get 100 on exam 2 but we all know that is possible but unlikely. But as my dad would say: Just do your best.

Hey assuming sacs scale to full marks, how many marks can I lose /120 to get above 45 for specialist?
(I know it depends on the year but can someone give me a ballpark figure  :'(

Also do you think its possible to get 49/50 with 117/118?

hey,
Methods
GA1: A (in a strong cohort)
GA2: 36/40
GA3: 74-71(worst case scenario/80
Approximately what would that yield?

Also, i screwed up my specialist exam 1 32-34/40, would i still be able to do a 34+? SACs are around an A average.
Thanks!  :)

Of course. You're capable of a much higher S.S than that depending on your exam 2 performance.

GA2: 33-34/40
GA3: ?/80
What score do i need for a 35 plus study score, even a 40 raw?

very possible if sacs scale to full.
118 definitely 49
117 might be 48, but could be 49 is sacs go to full
however keep in mind more likely to be 48.
