I'm reasonably happy with how I went, but I'm wondering whether if a conclusion is necessary for my analysis because I left it out...

.

dont really need one, look at assessment reports, the high scoring analysis dont have one (some of them)

what about comparisons?

what about them?

Every examiner I've heard has said that comparisons are not required in analyses.

Don't think conclusion is necessary according to my teacher. I felt it bore some resemblance to one of the ones in previous years with the principal and the parents on the issue of mobile phones. One uses their authoritative position and the other uses a more emotive approach.

ah well ive been told the higher range responses do include a comparison..i  assume it shows a more detailed understanding of techniques used....well ive practiced with comparing so i made an attempt to do that on teh exam.

but no matter if no one else thinks much of it

Did anyone attempt the A Man for All Seasons part 1? I thought it wasn't too hard.

What I assumed they meant by a comparison was just a little teeny sentence in the middle of the analysis, between the two articles, where you just go, 'conversely, the response employs an emotive argument' (ie in contrast to the scathing tone of the opinion article).

Hello there. Yay english is over. (Hello lit.)

I did Quiet American part 1, and The Plague part 2. Fun. Actually, the topics were okay.
006: Methods (woo for avoiding maths in yr 12!)
2007: English, Literature, Chemistry, Revolutions, French

When i walked into the exam room the clock was 1 hour and a half out. We started at 9:20 and the intervals were 9:15-9:30-9:45. I had to guess the time in the exam. I asked the people to put more detailed intervals that were centered on the time we actually started, they didnt understand. Half of the year got to see another clock, yet i was at the front. I'm the only one to complain because i am the only one who was going to go well in the front half of the room and who actually uses a clock... Others got to see the proper clock. I was aiming for 45+ and was shattered by my schools negligence. Couldn't plan properlly, had no idea when i should stop writing issues. I still finished, yet am so dissapointed and angry. A year of preperation 25+ essays for that shit to happen...

Kind of put me off for the rest of my exams, further went fine tho. Anyone else get the dummy path question wrong, only one for me i think.
here clock in my english exam was 1 hour and a half out. I knew it was either 10:55 or 11:05 by the time intervals. Very disgruntled at being disadvantaged... because school forgot to fix clock.. RARRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think he meant, the intervals they write on the board
you know how they right up each 15 minute gap then cross them off as htey pass by

so that you know how lnog till the end

but he couldnt see the clock and the intervals were really far apart, so he had a hard time guaging how long before he had to finish part 1/part 2 etc...
