I said the headphones related to the language of the kid watching a dinosaur, showing that she is listening rather than reading and I think I took her "back to the books"thing literally (although I can't really remember now :S). I know I mentioned the headphones though.

The first slide was a bit weird. I ended up saying that the boy (apparently it was a girl though, lol) was "turning his back" on the printed word and that Mrs. Elliot's example of the boy sitting "all alone" with his tablet-reader helps to recontextualise the image and possibly lend it an ominous air, idk.  :-\

I used the 'turning his back' as well! I think there are many ways to interpret the image and none is more 'right' than the other... I wouldn't worry about whether or not it correlates perfectly with others' understandings. :)

Woo! Everyone that I talked to had totally different interpretations. Someone at my school talked about the printed word being the "backbone" of society - sounded pretty good.

Weren't the powerpoints there just to show visuals during the presentation?

I mean, not many would write a speech and have a whole, exact transcript of it on the screen. That would defeat the whole purpose of an oral presentation.

nothings wrong in english, what you said seems pretty decent if you expanded upon it correctly. I said his back was to the books - ignorance, and that gave the implication he could 'push' the books over -> what this symbolises etc.
I said something like this too, for the first image.how he had his back away from that big pyramid of books, which also symbolized all the information/knowledge he was missing out on.
Anyway, for the second slide, I said it was ironic, cause the boy went to buy the book, not borrow it yet he only had a 'good six months' to read it?
Didn't analyse any of the Harry potter stuff, didn't have timeeee for it.
And yeah , I just mentioned the slides as visual slides.
