From what I know, units aren't important in methods unless specified (eg. if you're thinking about the area questions in Q5, I don't think it matters). For d.p. I'm not sure. A friend wanted to ask, what will 39/40, 75/80, and A+ SAC's get him?
i'd say 45 to 46

Given that he got the 29 part and if 0.29 gets 2/3 marks, he should get 2/3 for using the conditional probability anyway.

Ha ha, given that...
2011: Biology [39 --> 40]
2012: English [43]  Chemistry [39 --> 43]  French [37 --> 47]  Methods [39 --> 44]  Spesh [32 --> 44]

ATAR: 98.25

Is there a limit to how many marks you can lose for 'technicalities' (rounding, units etc.) on a paper?
Feels unfair that for a standard paper you could lose like 10 marks lol

I believe if the exam was difficult then they tend to let go of a lot of technical errors. My teacher is an assessor and last year he was told to forgive stuff like leaving out the dx from an integral because people didn't perform that well.
I got 2.501 as well. I'm guessing they would let that go

It was certainly doable within the time limit. I personally found this one shorter than the trial papers I had done before. It normally takes me 30 minutes for exam 1 and 90 for exam 2; this one took me 15 minutes for exam 1 and 70 for exam 2. That spare time didn't prevent me from making a really careless slip that cost me a mark though -_-

@above, yeah that question was really dodgy. My calc returned 2.50049 something, so if your calculator didn't show enough decimal places...
2012

2013

2014-2016: University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Science, Diploma in Mathematical Sciences (Applied Maths)

2017-2018: Master of Science (Applied Mathematics)

2019-2024: PhD, MIT (Applied Mathematics)

This is crazy. Exam 2 normally takes me 90 minutes too but with this one I would have needed another 15-20 minutes at least to finish it AND get full marks. Left 3 questions unanswered. Impressive stuff!
