don't even know why im in this thread, anyway, how long does an application take to go through for like school approval or whatevs?
Hmm, I asked my coordinator about all the approval stuff, he found out in a day or two that my school didn't need that DEECD approval. (in the enrollment handbook it says "Those schools contacted by their DEECD office will be able to enrol students in a single subject directly with the DECV without the regional director’s approval" which is probably why)

So it was just a matter of filling out the form, and the school principal filling out their bit / signing it which was all done pretty quickly (within that same day pretty much). I sent off the application mid November last year and then I think I was enrolled at DECV sometime in December (which was around when the Unit 3 materials arrived in the mail too).

So yeah, it doesn't take too long at all.

Yep :P They need to sign the form, set things up to make sure you're doing okay and they hand you your sacs to do etc.

Thats good as, I only found out about DECV recently otherwise I would have applied much earlier.

So do you have to do the SAC's at school? Out of curiosity also, what DECV subject did you do?

I did spesh, yeah I did the SACs at school, they get mailed to the VCE coordinator at my school and he'd organise a time and place for me to do it and mail it back etc. Some things would probably vary subject to subject (afaik some of them have excursions etc.)

Wow, you must be pretty smart to learn a subject like spesh individually. I'm kind of worried with how involved the VCE coordinator may get since mine is lazy and I can truthfully see SAC periods not getting arranged, nor do I see my SAC's getting sent on time, haha.
Do they usually arrange it within your free periods?

Thanks for answering my questions btw, I didn't know any of this stuff! :)

Yeah, it was arranged in my free periods, which I had plenty of since they gave me another block of spares to do spesh work in. I'm not sure if that's the same situation you'll find yourself in, since that's all dependent on school timetabling stuff.

The teacher that's allocated to supervise/manage all this stuff doesn't have to be your VCE coordinator, just in my case it was. But yeah, if the teacher is being slow to organise stuff it's partially your duty to keep annoying them about it and ensuring stuff gets done. That teacher will be getting regular emails etc. from the DECV teachers too, so they're kept up to date with when sacs will be and what they're expected to do etc.

If I completely screwed up Chem in year 9/10 science, will that affect my 1+2 chem badly?

Nope, you'll be fine. 1/2 Chem teaches everything you know from scratch pretty much.

Agreed. You'll be surprised how much you can improve in a year. Year 9/10 Chemistry doesn't cover most of the 1/2 course I think.

In retrospect, there were a few people who were complete trash at Chemistry in Year 11, and managed to pull off scores in the 40s in Year 12.

I didn't even do year 10 science, and I got the highest marks in 1&2 chem this year for both semesters.
