I pretty much finished my speech, but the second SAC is context and that's only in like three-four weeks. I feel bad cause while I've seen the movie (twice) I haven't written anything up yet.

I really wanted to do creative stories for context, but I feel that with creative, it can always be a mixed bag. I always wonder, what if the examiners can't see the link I can see... So in that sense, I feel that a more formal expression of writing like an expository or persuasive essay may be more suited for me. That way, I do have more piece of mind, and I think that if I have a deep understanding of the text(s), I can utilise that better in an essay style format over a creative story.
If you enjoy it, do it. It can be a mixed bag, it isn't for everyone. You have to be one of, or all three of, brave, confident or stupid to write creatively in the exam. In any year, for any Context task, I wrote a creative short-story. Every time. "What if the examiner can't see the link?" was one of my biggest fears or questions. I think the challenge is more sticking to the prompt, as Pi said before, all of thematic links, character links, etc are applicable to the criteria. I mean, if you have a kid struggling with his identity (although that might make for a pretty shit story) - you've pretty much just 'linked' every story in GUAIA. It also had the added benefit of not needing a close relationship with the texts, just the ability to think about the ideas the context was promoting. I'm not encouraging you to write creatively (unless you'd like to for practice, it can never hurt in practice), just airing my views on the topic.

Have you guys started writing context essays for English?

Yea, we started off with this piece actually! It was kinda like the primary school, "Write your teacher a letter about your holidays" equivalent :) Just so she could get a feel for how we write.

Ahhhh, good old recounts :)

We've been getting the same as well, we get told a prompt and the teacher asked us to write down what we think and to use stories from the text as secondary evidence. I ended up writing half an essay for homework haha

I don't remember ever having 'homework' in year 12..

Neither do I, I just set work for myself to do. Teachers didn't care if we did it or not.

There is a set minimum, but I generally try and do all the questions plus a bit more from other sources if I want/need to.

In that list of things, what do you mean by "study"? To me, study included "complete homework, write down notes into study notes, and revise the notes daily" :/

Haha, yes sorry all of that how did you manage to complete homework write notes and revise them daily as the amount of homework set is ridiculous, like I recieved about 100 chemistry questions last wednesday and next class was on friday

Good time management maybe?

Just be organised and well prepared. For example, I always ask for SAC dates at the start of term.
With regards to your chem thing, I just anticipate what the homework would be, then start it the night before. So, if you're working on, say, organic chem, just start doing the questions after the first lesson-that way, you'll be prepared to hand the questions in on time and also you would have gotten a bit of a head start on the stuff you're going to learn tomorrow.

If I were you, I'd just do every second question, or I'd only do the ones which I would think are of a medium-hard difficulty.

Not yet :)

Not looking forward to it haha. I'll be getting my feedback from our practice oral tomorrow so hoping that's good!

We're doing context first.

Excellent :D :D. I bet you smashed it.

How are you guys finding the start of Year 12 psychologically? Does anyone feel like they're more stressed than their peers? Are you all still very motivated? Is it as you expected? Different, worse, better?
I think I was extremely tense this time last year, making sure I didn't put a foot out of line.
