I have to agree YOW is good as. It's the kind of book I would read anyway.
And we just did oral first because it makes sense to get that put of the way since its not on the exam.

Growing up Asian in Australia is an awesome awesome collection of stories!!! So much stuff to relate to :)

We do orals after term two holidays because that way we can work on it during the term holidays and we won't need the teachers help as much.

yeah I heard it's pretty good! Relatable books make it so much better, last year we did Border Crossing and that was terrible D:

We do them after summer holidays because of that same reason, 2 steps ahead haha :P

THE PAIN! hahaha ive always loved period dramas, and novels with great emotional depth (preferably with cool historical/mystical settings). YoW appealed to me not only cause there was sooooo much depth and epicness in each of the characters, but also because its amazing historical validity and insightfulness. its kind of like watching an awesome drama and documentary at the same tame (but in book form... WHICH MEANS IT LAST SO MUCH LONGER ^_^ yow for life)

Where's the depth? Eugh: seriously, I swear YOW has the same depth as a children's picture book/Humpty Dumpty. You can find deep stuff everywhere:
eg: OMFG! The grass is green: this symbolises a new beginning as there hasn't been grass this frigging green for ages....look at all the happy insects scuttling around, but oh no, a bird is eating one of the insects. Isn't this a reference to the futility of life???

yeah, you get what I mean.

my heart bleeds :'( why are you hurting me Mcfluerry? WHY? the novel is about the human condition, and how society disintegrates in the face of adversity when survival is not guaranteed (I actually only like the book because i really like Elinor and that is about it xD). Its more deep than OTW at any rate hahaha. HATERS! come at me! (please dont actually)

funny bunny :)

Anyway: just to contradict you: not all of society disintegrates in the face of adversity: think of good ol' Anna(apart from the fact she is obsessed with Mompellion), Barmester, Merry, Elinor (kinda; plagued by her husband's misogyny) etc.
to the point: not all of society disintegrates, but  the social hierarchy does.

What's so great about Elinor? that she's selfless? okay, but how much of it stems from michael's influence on her??

Don't mean to hurt you, just to make you question your views and how strong they really are (in language analysis mode)
