We had ours last week.
I didn't end up going, because my aunty was having her baby boy :)
But apparently, some of the asian and curry parents were taking heaps of spring rolls, and there was a rush to get all the food. I guess it happens when you go to a school predominantly with curries and asians! :P

At least it sounds like you had nice food. :(

My formal had crap food. I had half my usual dinner before the formal, and I left the formal feeling hungry.

I'm worried about my SACs for English and Methods. :(

I'm worried about having no motivation to study for English Language. It's so hard; I've done one essay and analysis for the whole day...

Our formal and graduation are on Dec 13/18 respectively! I never knew people had them so early haha! If people have graduation before exams, how do they announce the dux?

Haha at my school it's kinda complicated. At Val we had "Citizenship Award", "All-rounder Award" and "Student of the Year Award" then at the end of the year the Dux or Duces are named based on ATARs. Often the Dux isn't the Student of the Year at Val and vice versa
At other schools they have a "Valedictorian Award" then dux later. Depends on your school I guess :)

What other awards apart from Dux do your schools have?

Well, our awards are a little weird. One student who achieves one on the top marks for each subjects (yes, 'one of' :P) will get a subject award (because a student can't get two awards). So for example, last year in IT, one of my friends got 43 (the highest) but he'd also got the highest for business (which he got the award for) so the IT award went to a dude who got 30 :P Hahaha.

As for the biggest award apart from the dux, we have a "Glancy Scholarship" which is essentially "Student of the Year", $500 from the school. They're also indigenous scholarships, academic excellence scholarships and a ton of sports awards. There's also a Year 10 dux actually (presented in year 10 - which I got wooo!). :)

My school's awarding system is, IMO, quite simple.
In year 12, there are subject awards that are determined from SAC scores only, and you can get as many awards as you wish. Quite ironically, I got the English Language award only, which demonstrates what happens when I put all my effort into the one subject.
We don't have a dux of year 12 award announced before ATARs come out, and generally my school has multiple duces :P I have no idea what that award is, apart from having your name engraved in the school assembly hall.
Although we do have excellence awards for, presumably, the top 3 in our school. The first prize is 500, and second and third are 200 each.
Dux of year 11 is an awesome prize. The school gives a $25 book voucher (which is pathetic; I won five subject awards last year and dux of year for $200 in total, and my academic excellence award last year was $400. LOL what the), but Monash Uni gives $1000...holy shite...

We have Best Achievement Awards for each subject. I'm hoping to get the Accounting award. :)
