srs post though:

I never go outside my house without makeup on (unless I'm getting maccas drive through or something).

Why do people feel the need to cover their natural skin?

Well, because my "natural skin" used to look something like this (not anymore though, thank you antibiotics)

I envy the people who wake up with naturally beautiful skin and no bags under their eyes. Yeah, I don't HAVE to cover it up but it's a sad fact that people are judged on first impressions. It's nobody's fault - it's a psychological response that cannot be controlled. And especially for me, who's studying to go into a field where I have to interact with people all day long, I prefer to put forward my best face. I feel more confident dealing with clients and authorities when I feel like I look my best, and when I feel more confident I do a better job, so in that way putting makeup on benefits my clients as well.

Also I'm only going to be young once, so why not emphasise my features while I still can? When I'm wrinkly and droopy, there'll be no point!

I asked my girlfriend why she wears make up.

Same reason she gave me as to why she wears lingerie: it gives her confidence when she goes out.

There is no ultimate reason as to why people where make up. Different people wear it for different reasons. I don't think its always about feeling "insecure", I think its the fact when you were the make up and observe the difference it does make to your face or appearance you automatically start wearing it regularly. So to be frank, becasue it looks better and everyone likes to look the best they can!!!
It makes your face look one tone and more smooth!!

Totally right here. I have some males friends who are swear sometimes seem to care more about how they look than i do. :P
That situation happens alot in my life, but I'm the guy...

but srly, if I'd write down of all the chicks I know, who'd be the best looking ones, it'll probs be half half. One having make-up on all the time and partially needing it and the other half not wearing make up at any time (well rarely). If I'd write down the ones that look the most pathetic or slutty, 100% of them would be wearing make up.

I am a girl and I barely ever wear makeup. I find it unnecessary and only wear it on special occasions.

maybe it is because you are blessed with very good skin and as emphasized by nina before others are not, hence for them it is not unnecessary! Its like being amazing at math and saying getting a tutor is unnecessary.

Well, because my "natural skin" used to look something like this (not anymore though, thank you antibiotics)
My skin looked much, much worse than that before I started on Roaccutane. I hated my skin so so much, and I envied anyone who had perfect skin. Roaccutane changed my life (as lame as that sounds). At points, and being a male, I put some makeup on to cover the blemishes etc. I'm not ashamed to say that, because my skin was absolutely awful. So I can understand why you would want to cover up blemishes and acne, it is shameful and embarrassing on a personal level (even if no-one else around you thinks so or sees it).
Also I'm only going to be young once, so why not emphasise my features while I still can? When I'm wrinkly and droopy, there'll be no point!
It might be appropriate to say YOLO?, but yes I understand this completely! If it makes people feel better, more confident and especially happier, then do it.

I really don't understand the fuss with makeup either.
For a start I think it makes a lot of people look WORSE.
Next... I don't wear it for reasons of skin allergies and not enough time plus I think my money could be better spent in other areas.
Lastly, I only really think makeup is needed for special events, performance and professional photoshoots.

It's not that bad. Wearing it once in a while (special events/parties) it can be excused. But it does make some people look prettier, or it might just be psychological feeling.

Seeing girls wearing it everday kinda irritates me, but it's their wish I guess  ::)

Can't girls tell when they're overdoing it though?

When they have those horrible lashes on?
When their eyes are half blue, half orange and their face a shade of purple?
When they are wearing heels and walking like drunks on tightropes?
When their face is shining like the full moon but they're at Coles buying groceries?

Sure, a bit of make-up can help. But no one puts 'a bit' on.

This one time we were debating in class about which was the superior gender, and one guy goes "if women where so intelligent then why do they wear make-up?" and of course everyone thought this was a hilariously good point. But no. Girls aren't stupid for wearing make-up.

Yes some might look that way because of the amount they put on, but I don't think some girls notice how much they are putting on because of their distorted perspective of beauty. Personally, I think everyone wears make-up for their own reasons. Some people do it to fit in, others because they feel like that's the only way they can attract any attention, some do it because it fits their definition of beauty, and some do it for confidence or to boost their self-esteem.
I myself barely feel the need to on a daily basis, but on special occasions or when I want to impress someone why not?!  put your best foot or should I say face forward!
