What motivates you to work hard at school?

I was thinking about this the other day, so what motivates all of you ANs to work hard at school?

I know some might say for admission to uni, but that's not the case for me. Well it kind of is, but it's more about keeping options open because I'm still a bit undecided. So for me probably a combination of that and knowing that if I work hard I've given VCE everything I can and hopefully I'll get an ATAR reflective of my efforts!

I'm motivated by the fact that if I do work very hard, I'll get into the university I want go to without much hassle. Also, I'd like to make my parents proud because at this stage, education is paramount for them (among other things of course), so it'd be awesome if I can exceed their expectations (if that's possible with curry parents :P). :)

But generally, I don't really require much motivation. I just enjoy the subjects I'm doing so it more or less comes naturally. Perhaps as days and months progress, I'll need those things above to get me past! :D

I'm just interested in how well I can do. And yeah, also tertiary offers, parents' encouragement, etc.

I think that a passion and adoration for the subjects you are doing, an ethic for expanding on your knowledge and ensuring you are prepared in every aspect will sub-consciously assuage you and also diminish the stress. :)

Another reason why doing subjects for scaling purposes only, succeeds rarely.

I stay motivated by reminding myself how proud my parents, teachers and school will be if I get the ATAR of my dreams. I don't really know what I want to do in university; therefore, I can't really say I'm motivated by a specific course.

Also, I would say that I love my subjects, but I'm a really lazy person and rarely ever love work, so I shan't.. :P

I was considering doing law. I remember sticking a sheet of paper on my door saying "Combined Law, University of Sydney. 99.75." That was my goal for quite a period.

(I ultimately turned down a place in that course. Nonetheless, I worked hard to keep my options open!)
