What would you say if you had to comment on the semantic use and part of speech of the word 'good' in:

(particularly the second instance)

I'm going to assume that this is an advertisement. I'd then look at the contextual factors to understand WHY certain lexemes are used.
Firstly, the lexeme 'good' carries a positive connotation and ads generally capitalise on these lexemes to enhance their marketing ploys (the function of the text). Using 'good' twice is a subtle repetition that aims to drill the positive semantics into the audience and aims to leave a sort of sanguine impact once they've finished reading it.
That's my take on it!

What's interesting to me alongside what Mafioso has already brought up, is the way they've fronted the 'good' lexeme as a sort of reference back to the previous sentence. I reckon its been done, not only to show emphasis, but also as a cohesive tie to connect the two ideas that they bring up i.e. 'you'll look good and this is why' (sort of like an anaphoric reference but I'm not sure what the actual metalanguage is for it) :)

OMG I'm actually about to do this trial exam as well.

I hate it. I really hate it. 90 words for section A and then 200 words for section B. What is VATE trying to do to us -.-

Yeah, repetition of good is important, but maybe mention the fact that it's fronted the second time around?

Wait, ECheong already mentioned that point.

Oh, I remember doing this practice exam at my school last year under exam conditions.

This was my answer (which my teacher gave full marks for, considering it's only a 2-mark question):

Explain two different semantic uses of 'good' in Text 1.
"Good" (line 3) is used in the title as a positive adjective to describe the gift (the card) as desirable, but also used in line 12 in the sense of "[that is] good," referring to the contribution made to reduce poverty by buying a card as morally sound.

(I referred to the other "good" in the article -- the big one in the title -- plus the second "good" in the paragraph.)

I feel slightly concerned that section A took me only 20 minutes to do for this exam, which allowed me to run out of space in the essay section.

Considering that short answer is a fifth of the total mark I'd say 20 minutes is pretty much perfect pacing!

It normally takes me 25-30 minutes; 20 minutes feels short.

Or rather, you doing it in 20 mins is fast.
But seriously, when you say it normally takes you 25-30 minutes, are you referring to VCAA short answer sections or other trial papers?
Just curious.

The trials are taking me 25-30mins but I can finish the VCAA section A's in under 20mins. I think if we practice finishing trial section A's in 20mins, the real deal will be a breeze!

It actually took me close to half an hour to do last year's VCAA section A, while it takes me 25 minutes generally for company trial exams. I really need to cut down on section A time though; every extra minute on the essay is valuable.

In the Kirsten Fox exam guide, one of the suggestions regarding "opinionative topicss" is that "You are encouraged to personalise your essay somewhat and may use "I" in your response, particularly in your introduction where you state yoru opinion on the essay topic."
I'm not used to hearing people advocate  using "I" in an essay, so yeah does this matter that much?
