rationalisation gives

the textbook has it wrong
or it might have meant 195o (which gives )

um, i spose this would be a typical example of the silly mistakes i was talking about before
i checked on my calc but it was in radian mode. so annoying!

no what i meant was, i got the answer (which is "wrong" according to the solutions i was given) and then double-checked it in the calc by plugging in tan(165) which gave me -15.
so in this case, radians vs degrees did matter

anyway i got it right so whatever...

Coblin, I had stuff like that in my Methods CAS book (Essentials) last year (ie, compound angle questions) but none of it came up on SACs or either of the exams, from memory at least.

Oh. I remember Essentials had that in their Methods book for the non-CAS course too. You don't need to know it.
