Can anyone please give me an example of each of these terms? I need some examples to support the meaning of these terms.
Health status   An individual’s or a population’s overall health, taking into account various aspects such as life expectancy, amount of disability and levels of disease risk factors
Hospital separation   Episodes of hospital care that start with admission, end at transfer, discharge or death
Health development   creating an environment in which people can develop to their full potential and lead productive, creative lives in accord with their needs and interests. It is about expanding people’s choices and enhancing capabilities (the range of things people can be and do), having access to knowledge, health and a decent standard of living, and participating in the life of their community and decisions affecting their lives
Injury   Injury relates the adverse effects on the human body that may result from a range of different events (I am not very sure about its definition, is it right?)
Sustainability   …meeting the needs of a person without the ability of future generations to meet their own needs

I will appreciate your help, thanks very much :)
Health status - So every country would have a different health status. The health status of a city in Sudan would be considerably poor compared to Melbourne's health status. Due to the poverty, war and near anarchy in that country.

Hospital separation - Aight so when a woman goes to labour she goes in when her water breaks and then is discharged when she and her baby is healthy. On the other hand an individual in a fatal car crash who dies in hospital would end at death.

Injury - I play footy and cricket and injuries I've had are side strains, shoulder strains  and I've even dislocated my shoulder once.

Health development - Think of school

Hope that helps,

Rod

Did anyone go to the TSFX lecture today? What did you think of it? I found it very helpful, the lecturer pretty much gave us a preview of the whole unit three course. The notes will be really helpful as well. One thing I didn't like was how she copied VCAA questions onto the notes. For biology last year, the questions in the notes were made by the lecturer, and were harder and better preparation. It also allowed me to save all the VCAA questions until the end when I would do practise exams.

Anyway, great lecture!

So I don't need to expand on it? hmm..

Also, another question.
Do mental disorders contribute more to YLLs or YLDs? and why?

Thanks

If it just says list then no explanation is needed, but if it says explain then you would explain it :)

Mental disorders contribute more to YLDs because they are a form of illness, injury or disability they often do cause death but can cause other health effects which means a person is not living in full health.  Therefore mental disorders contribute more to the non fatal component of DALYs.

Life Expectancy: Males 79.7 compared to females 84.2
HALE: Males 72 compared to females 75

What does this suggest about the later stage of life of females compared to males?

Females usually get prolonged diseases such as alzeimers, breast cancer, leukamia, while males do not.

Hi :) This is an interesting question and I'm not sure if I'm going about it the right way :/ Where is it from ?

Anyway so you will notice that even though females have a high life expectancy (84.2) compared to males with 79.7 and a higher HALE (75 compared to 72) the number decreases more in females compared to females thereby indicating that females even though living longer spend more of this time in poor health.
And yes it is true that women are more likely to suffer from alzeimers and breast and cervical cancer.

The question is from the key concepts textbook. :)

In short yes, although it does depend on the type of question. Do you have a specfic question?
eg if it says evaluate the success of the program then strengths, weakness and opinion is fine, but it is says evaluate the progress of something then you usually just read of the graph.
