Part of my holiday homework has an article on weight loss and gastric banding and mentions obesity and overweightness as well.
A questions says to identify the major health issue of focus. I'm confused as to whether the issue is gastric banding/weight loss surgery or obesity.
Thanks

The major health issue is obesity, with the key word in there being health. :)

Going into health 3/4 without 1/2.
Honestly had no idea what was going on during transition week :D
I think my biggest fear is how to effectively answer questions?
sigh...so lost...

To all of those going into 3/4 without the 'benefit' (I use that term loosely) of 1/2, don't worry too much. I didn't do 1/2 either, and I really don't think that you're at a disadvantage. If you're feeling lost, just go through some key definitions (morbidity, mortality, HALE, DALY etc.) and try to grasp the general direction of the course. To do this, you could have a look through the study design, past exams, or your textbook(s).

Best of luck!

EDIT: And know that the lovely people of ATARNotes will be here the entire year to answer any questions you may have!

You really don't need 1/2 (I didn't do it). There was some talk that the 1/2 came with a slight disadvantage as there are different definitions/concepts in 3/4 that you will not get marks for if you mix them up!

what do you guys have for holiday homework?

I have a transition booklet full of questions, data analysis', articles and questions that follow, I have to make cue cards of the main definitions, do all the chapter questions from 1.1-1.6 (Key Concepts book), and a few 'do more' and 'see more' activities.

How about you?

Just to clarify this in case the study design doesn't make it clear enough - there is no more AusAID in Unit 4 Area of Study 2! Instead, the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT) will from now on be the body that is involved in Australia's aid program and efforts to achieving the MDGs :) Even though they've changed the body that manages Australia's aid initiatives, you'll still be learning similar things with DFAT as you did with AusAID (e.g. how aid initiatives of DFAT promote global health & SHD, objective of DFAT). Also, instead of learning about the 'responsibilities' of DFAT, you'll be touching on the 'priorities' of DFAT :)

Is anyone else having problems with Studyon?
And how in the textbook (Key Concepts)  has activities like 'see more'  and 'do more' but on Study on the test no option to?  Gah frustrating.
