how rarely does vcaa make score calculating errors? just curious
I don't think they ever have, because they have a team of like 100 workers assessing each student and doing multiple checks to make sure that everything's correct .

Close to zero. But I do know a friend who had a problem in one of his exams. The examiner forgot to mark the last page of his paper. After reporting to VCAA, he managed to get his marks back :)

They only gave you the score. But my friend didn't believe what he saw so he asked to see the paper. Sorry for not being clear :)

what does everyone mean when they say 'herald sun will post 40+ study scores earlier'
is it because we can somehow access tomorrows paper the following day at 12am?
omg that would be great

Last year, results came out at 7am on the 17th of December, but the Herald Sun newspaper (which could be viewed online) was up at midnight, so you could type in your surname and instantly know what 40+ scores you had (provided you chose to publish them).

I was a little disappointed tbh, seeing that my specialist score didn't come up on the newspaper and I only got a 42 in methods, but at least it gave me some sort of an indication of how I went before the rest of the results came out.

I know there were two people on the forums who got the wrong study scores (one for Methods and one for Psych), so it's not ridiculously uncommon. It's more likely to be because of a mistake your school has made with submitting SAC scores than a mistake on VCAA's part though

Thanks :D I know I'm not going to get a 40+ in English, but anything above 25 will make me very happy and extremely relieved.

I know its happened at least once or twice (at least in my failing memory it has), we had a few people on here chase it up a few years ago (i feel so old now).

Will they recalculate my 2012 Study Score again this year?

Your study score remains the same in both respects. The raw will obviously always be the same because they're just simply adding stuff up. The scaled will stay the same because its scaled in the year you did it, based on how difficult it was that year. It doesn't really make sense to scale it to a year you didn't do it in.

Could someone please detail the process of looking at your study score, not ATAR? I'm only doing one 3/4 this year and I have no idea what to do about it, like what website and such to go to? I have a student ID number!

Also, when you are doing a single 3/4 do they still mail out your SS and GAT out to you? I kind of want to keep it all secret until the end of year 12 ...
My VCE 2014 Goal is to not end consciousness ... and a respectable ATAR.
