If I didn't do chem then I would not have known how to draw one :\ I don't even know if the question wanted the structural formula ahaha in my textbook, they're drawn as a square with a circle on top...

You'd just have to draw a central carbon atom, attached to it a hydrogen atom, a carboxyl COOH group, an amine group NH2 and an R (or Z) Variable region, unless of course it asked to draw a specific amino acid like glycine.

Did anyone else resort to chemistry when drawing the amino acid monomer? :o
And that experimental design question confused me so much  :'(

I personally reckon that that was the hardest VCAA exam thus far for bio  :-\
Wait what? :( I guessed I missed out on answering this question right... is this for the biomacromolecule of the karotype question?

That's what I ended up drawing, I just wasn't aware that knowing the structure was necessary for bio.

Yes :\ what did you write? I just thought that proteins and nucleic acids made up chromosomes...right?

yeah i drew a nucleotide, and then an amino acid. because chromosomes also have histones, which are proteins and hold the structure together, right?

I know same, i had initially resorted to drawing a simple amino acid with a variable region and shit... but then i rubbed it out and just draw a sequence of amino acids as i had written (protein) for the macromolecule. i've stuffed up because i wrote 'nucleic acid' and draw a nucleotide :( hahaha oh well

Anyone predict the A+ cut off?

Well damn just remembered I wrote "DNA" LMAO. However I drew a nucleotide. So 1 marks out of 4 on that. Fml.

Was it wrong for me to draw just a sequence of amino acids and the structure of DNA?

It feels like I was the only one who wasn't able to mention protein and an amino acid sequence for that question ffs.

I have to admit I didn't expect that sort of question from VCAA (maybe from Neap or Stav)

I wrote 'nucleic acid' and then in brackets (DNA). Dw, you would've aced the rest :)

Did you guys get 273 for the DNA sequence in that 90 amino acids question? Because 90x3 for amino acid codons and then the extra 3 nucleotides for the stop codon?

I have to admit I didn't expect that sort of question from VCAA (maybe from Neap or Stav)

I AGREE 100% feels like NEAP.

It should definitely be lower than last year's.

So was the question what two macromolecules make up chromosomes? And then were you required to draw the polymers OR monomers of the stated biomacromolecules?

Yeah I did the same, hoping that was right!?!
