Does anyone else get IMMENSE parental pressure for the HSC this year? Some of my friends are so relaxed and tell me that their parents dont really care much, yet others receive pressure but always do well. I feel like i'm stuck in a rut... my results are either declining or stagnant. Does anyone have any tips on dealing with stress and constant parental pressure?
My school did a program on stress and pressure. Apparently pressure and stress is not necessarily bad for you if you change your mindset about it. For example, we all remember getting stressed before an assignment and pulling all nighters to finish assignments, since we're so stressed. But, without that stress we might not have been motivated to do it. Basically the general idea is that if you think of stress positively and as a natural reaction from your body to prepare you for challenging events, then it will no longer be a bad thing that influences you negatively. My school did an experiment, which involved giving half of the students taking an exam a note talking about how stress is positive and how it helps you. The other half didn't get anything and apparently the students with the note scored higher than the students without it. So, basically if you change your mindset about stress, it may solve your problem and help you to be less negatively influenced by stress.
