I said this once and I will say it again... DO UNI CHEM HAHAHA
Uni chem is amazing stuff, beats VCE.
hahaha, that's probably the most likely outcome(MUEP Chemistry) however I might just apply for something like math at UMEP as a backup.

fair enough, i bought some irrelevant stuff before
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF METHODS IS STILL OK TO USE? With the new study design...
With the textbooks you will need to get a new textbook as there is new stuff being added into Methods and Specialist Mathematics (I think something like 1-2 chapters).
The Methods textbook from Cambridge has been released but Spesh still hasn't been released. :'(

crap, when will it even be out? it is a bit late cause we need it for orientation soon .....

I've heard mixed information. My Methods teacher's been telling me we can't get it until it comes with the booklist in January but I've heard around AN that you can get them already. Looked on the Cambridge online store and only saw 2011's editions though.

If it's anything like the other new-study design subjects your teachers might get a couple of 'preview' chapters for transition. Or at least that's what my IT teacher said, but she's not particularly reliable either.  ::)

yup pretty sure teachers were able to get sample copies of the textbook awhile back.

Just finished my torture session classics exam, and I'm pretty sure my whole class struggled. By the end of it, most people were still writing or had given up (one girl attempted to pull her paper away from the teacher in a valiant effort to finish her final sentence but ultimately failed, bringing shame to her entire family (or something)). I'm not very confident that there'll be any As, this year. ;)

I'm just happy I finished writing, even if I couldn't get through any proof reading.  ::)

I am! Although my transition only goes for two days so most of it will probably be self-study.

I have 14 days off.  :P

Sorry to butt into your thread, but it's been released and has all been printed!

Dr Evans happened to be my Uni Maths teacher this year, (for all you lucky ducklings who are doing Monash Maths at Scotch next year, you'll get to meet him) :) and yes he's confirmed that they've all been printed. As for availabilities most of you will have to 'unfortunately?' wait til booklists have come out. For some schools that may be earlier, some later

Just take a nice break and relax.
Don't get second hand textbooks because the study design has changed and they've refined the old exercises and stuff like that too. Although it probably will be possible to share a textbook with a friend at school if you don't feel like you'll use it (I barely used my Methods/Specialist textbooks this year).

So now that everything's wrapping up for this year (mostly), what's everyone's plans for the holidays?

I'm going flake out and catch up on some books I haven't gotten around to reading yet because I'm hopeless at juggling a school text with any other books.  ::)

and maybe study but who does that, amirite?

Are you crazy?

Clearly. :P

But nah, seriously, have you learnt the course content?  Do you know your stuff?  Because until you've done that quite thoroughly, you'd be seriously wasting your time (and probably confidence) by doing past exams.

'Slow and steady wins the race' - committing to something slow, small, thorough and most importantly consistently doable throughout the holidays is what's actually going to get you somewhere.  Try to do too much and, if you're a normal human being (read: like me ;)), you'll give up before a couple of weeks are out.  That's a really bad start in terms of confidence and believing in yourself.

Don't worry about scores that you can't change  because there are so many more productive things you could do
