I really hope I don't get persecuted for this, but I quite like the VCAA website (in comparison to the old one) :')

I really hope I don't get persecuted for this, but I quite like the VCAA website (in comparison to the old one) :')

I don't like that there's '+' symbols on their dropdown menus, but clicking them does nothing and instead another part of the button needs to be pressed for anything to work. Also if you click on those, it has a really old-fashioned dotted outline on the edges, windows XP style. In general, the menus are more cluttered than before (the dashes on the left of each item are unnecessary now and look kinda bad imo) and just as hard to navigate (I'd daresay the archaic 'sitemap' in the footer does a better job). Also bugs me that the white menu bar starts under the VCAA logo but extends infinitely off the edge on the right side.

biggest gripe is that they still have the sharepoint logo instead of a VCAA one.

I think it looks better though, so points for that

Edit: It also seems that a few of the menus are redundant - 'students' in the white bar looks like it has the same information as 'senior secondary' in the blue bar, but it's formatted better. Not sure what the deal with that is

Last day of term for anyone tomorrow? Looking forward to three weeks of holidays...already have so much stuff to do though haha

Had a practice English exam today...totally winged it lol. Didn't have any time to prepare for it, been so busy. I think everyone else was in the same boat though so I'm not too fussed. Everyone was pretty chilled about it tbh

Many private schools give their students 3 weeks off, not just for yr12, but for every year.

I always get 3 weeks throughout the July holidays and then 7-8 weeks in the summer holidays. Just this year, only 2.5 weeks due to mid-year exams

My school used to give us three weeks off mid-year but the powers that be decided that it wasn't smart and that week would be better spent torturing students with a million and one SACs. And that is how the week Year 12's came to countdown towards with excitement became one of their least favourite weeks of the school year.

Yeah, as pi said, a lot of private schools have a 3 week mid year break
Really good opportunity to recharge the batteries, particularly in year 12. It means I can actually have a proper break and still have time to study.

On another subject, my year 12 coordinator informed us all today that next term, we would generally have at least one assessment per week. Fun times are ahead, obviously

can I ask a quick question?
I don't really know about how Victoria works, but the general idea in WA is that if you get over 85% average in every subject, you get a 99+ atar. In literature, my average is 80, and I'm rank 2, with rank one beating me by under 1%. Throughout year 11 as well, the highest average has always been around 82%. Do I want to know how badly do you think I am doing? my school is an alright public school (around each year we get like 3 people with a 99+ atar). do you think my school is marking harshly, or do you think my cohort has never been good at literature? All the top year 10 English students got the chance to do Lit, so I don't know if it's just cos we are all doing 'badly' or if my school is marking harsh. I know that this is a hard thing to judge, especially since you don't really know much about my school but i would appreciate any thoughts
