GUYS.
Two things.
Firstly, how many practice exams should I be doing for each subject to get a REALLY good score and be really prepared. And company papers or VCAA? Just general advice.
Secondly, what do you guys think about study groups, and for which subjects would they be most effective? Also, if we were to conduct study sessions, how exactly would they work?
Thanks guys, I'm dying of stress, no joke. But I know when I'm dying, I can always count on the peoples of ATARNotes. 😊
There's no magical number of practice exams unfortunately...just keep on doing them! Depends on how confident you are with the subject and that sort of stuff. If you're looking for a specific number, go speak to your teachers, they'll probably have a set amount that they recommend you do or just a random number that they'll pull out of their mind.
I think what's key is that you know how to approach and answer the questions that you get asked. The reasoning behind doing heaps of practice exams is that you encounter a broader range of questions so you're more likely to encounter a question similar to what you've seen before, etc etc.
As for study groups - personally doesn't work for me, but I've got some friends who do one for psych (I think) and it's really helpful for them. I think they go over content (explain it to each other, etc.) and also do questions then compare answers and all that jazz. It really depends if you find working in a group helpful and if you find it aids your study. I guess they would be helpful when there's not necessarily one correct answer for it, or there's different ways to go about it or explain it - so subjects like bio, psych, humanities subjects, maybe even english and stuff (can brainstorm for essay prompts, etc.). In the end, it's all up to you how you'd run it and who you'd have it in - whether it's friends or just people from your year level who you won't get distracted with
