Hey fellow ATARIANS

Can someone help brainstorm some good Body Paragraphs and Ideas to talk about for this topic?

Harwood’s poetry explores the life changes that people can experience, resulting in both growth and grief.  Discuss.

ok cool...so when the prompt says life changes, you can talk about the losses that one experiences throughout life.
In the lions bride- there is a loss of independence for women
In the Park- there is a loss of identity
When you say father and child, are you referring to "Barn Owl" and "Nightfall"? If yes, there is a loss of innocence that occurs in the Barn Owl as the girl realizes that death is not "clean and final" as she once expected. However there is a clear contrast with Nightfall as the girl (now woman) realizes that power is not the most important thing in life- it is trying to maintain relationships with others.
Now you can talk about what these losses do to a person...for example, we have also studied "Slate" which is about the power imbalances within a classroom. The loss of ones power, is beneficial to the class showing that it is a positive consequence.
However, a loss of innocence is a negative consequence- resulting in grief as it is permanent and effects the ways that people behave to each other.
Hope this helps Lokzo :)
