In order from the left:
1. Montblanc Meisterstück 146 M nib inked with Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue
2. Montblanc Meisterstück 146 BB nib inked with Sheaffer Skrip Black
3. Montblanc Meisterstück 149 F nib inked with Waterman Florida Blue
4. Monteverde Invincia Color Fusion M nib inked with Noodler's Apache Sunset
5. Lamy Logo EF nib inked with Parker Quink Black
6. Vintage Parker Slimfold inked with Parker Quink Blue

Gotta be careful with ink bleedthrough. FYI, VCAA paper takes fountain pen ink fine. But use a ballpoint for VCAA ID.

In uni this year though, can't be bothered worrying about smudging as much.

Fountain pens end up being more economical (not the expensive pens obviously) because you can refill them yourself rather than buying refill. A 60mL bottle of ink for less than $10 from Officeworks will last a very long time. Not to mention how much better the writing experience is. Much smoother.  ;)

Just saw this thread and thought it was an appropriate place for my problem.

I write far too small. It looks like chicken-scrawl. Even I can hardly read my own writing when I check my answers. What sort of pens will help me write bigger/more legibly? Don't want to piss away marks by the examiner getting fed up when they give up and stop trying to discern my responses.

Maybe get to an office works so you can try out many pens and see which one feels best?

You people are sick.

But, uh, yeah, I find those blue bic pens that have the solid white, cylindrical plastic tubing and the mustard coloured tip do the trick. Always legible.

It has actually been scientifically proven (I do a B. of Science) that the Pilot G-2 0.3mm will automatically give you a study score of 44 in all of your subjects as well as give you the opportunity to do Units 5 & 6 of Specialist.
maybe not or maybe it doesnt, i didnt use it for my exams

Is anyone else really OCD about the intensity of ink produced by blue pens? I can only use BIC blue pens because their blue ink is the darkest from my experience. :')

  • Research on the topic or for handwriting. A quick 5 minute Google search can't hurt.
  • Try taking your time and force yourself to write big v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. Then write slightly faster and continue to build it up to speed.
  • Try a new pen like others have suggested.

I am a moderator.

See kids, this is how corruption works.

Anyway back on topic about pens please. I wasn't going to contribute but now i feel a little guilty.

I like pens with grips because you can literally feel your bone pushing into the pen by the end of all that writing. A nice rubbery grip helps massively. You want as little resistance as possible, you dont want those ball-points which are hard to push. You want something with gel that'll glide. This is purely for comfort and speed. If you want it to look nice, you'd probably write it in cursive with a fountain pen or something..

I honestly hate gel pens..just because I always end up with ink all over my hand, and writing in gel just makes the rest of my work at the top smudged and hard to read, and not to mention but it leaves waaaay more ink than just a normal ballpoint.

Don't buy Bic Round Sticks. Someone at school recommended them to me, so I bought a pack.

But they feel cheap and plasticty and just horrible.

regardless of how long they last, you should bring another pen just in case.

No matter how many pens you have.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️
