Geo trig question 3c

I'm not sure how the answer can be 761, myself and several others found it to be 785

How did you arrive at that answer?

I did it a bit the long way but the Water container Volume = 3/4 of Feed container volume, 1440 x 1.25 = 1800 (if i remember exactly) then knowing 628:x and 1440:1800 and solving to x

Why did you multiply by 1.25?

Because since water container volume = 3/4 of feed container volume, the feed container V = 1.25 x V water container, and my classmates got the same answer by doing the normal way (4/3)^3 or whatever

If the volume of the water container is 3/4 of the feed container, then the feed container V= 4/3 x v water container... 4/3 is not 1.25

The normal way would be to cube root to find k, as you originally have k cubed. Then square k to get the area scale factor of 1.21, then multiply by 628 to get 761

Absolutely no chance the question in core was non-linear?

There's a chance but it's at the discretion of the examiners, the solutions represent the general consensus as discussed on this forum, and most of us find it to be linear and have stronger reasoning for it being linear.

Wouldn't say strong reasoning, there's little evidence supporting either side. I'm still feeling it would be reciprocal, there would be a weak pattern in the residual graph if it were a linear model. Lets ask VCAA to ignore the form and only examine the strength and direction for that question? :D

          Chemistry 36-->40.54

Lets ah.. never speak about english again?

I said stronger reasoning, however I do agree that neither side is completely convincing.

Hey :)

Honestly in my opinion, its a straight text book response in relation to the provided graph models to compare against.. so I do really believe its linear. I can provide a sample image from my textbook if you like?

Cheers :)

For graph and relation question 3c, i was confused and my calculation showed out n>15.2, then i took 99 as the answer, but its not. However do i get a mark out of that question since i worked out 15.2?

I think it's best to just wait and see what the report says early next year as it will be completely discretionary as to how they award marks

For the core question about the slope of the line. if i wrote 'the population increases by 2680 people for every 1km" missing the km^2 and area. would i receive this mark?
