Methods Exam 2: Discussion!
« on: November 06, 2014, 05:05:30 pm »
So, how was it?

Was there a lot of calculus this year? More probability than last year? Any questions which were very difficult to do?

If anyone has a copy of the exam, feel free to create a new topic and upload it there. :D

Hey guys, hope the exam went well!

Just as a note, please reserve this thread for exam related discussion and refrain from asking study score related questions in this thread. I have split the majority of posts regarding study scores into this thread.

If you wish to ask questions relating to study score approximations please head to the Victorian Technical Score Discussion board and post in a relevant already made thread, or make your own.

Thank you!

From one of my students:

"the multiple choice was like 5 times harder than any other year; short answer not hard, but very technical. some hard questions"

Multiple choice was quite straightforward, the first few questions of short answer were really simple, like methods 1/2 style, and the last question was slightly more difficult although VCAA guided you along quite well. The exam was much easier than last year and probably 2012.
I'm reasonably happy, unlike exam 1

Oh yeah, and the Tasmania Jones question was really disappointing actually. A Viking statue in Greenland, within a melting ice cylinder :(

Multiple choice this year was extremely time consuming and and more difficult than ever before. ER was pretty easy compared to previous years.

I agree - the multiple choice pushed you more than in previous years, but the extended response was fairly straightforward

This exam felt a lot better than last years one.
Multiple choice wasn't too bad, there was some annoying ones like the second last question. The short answer was quite accessible and was fairly do able if you know how to use your CAS really well.
Did anyone else got 2031 for the year where the top of the statue is out of the ice block?

I found that the MC was pretty straightforward, very easy to do with a calc, but time consuming. For me the last part of every question, except the first, was quite hard, and a lot of the cohort agrees.

I agree, multiple choice was more time consuming rather than difficult, took roughly 25 to 30 minutes for me I think, compared with 18-23 in practise exams. Maybe it was just
the conditions of the exam that made it feel longer, not sure...

I found the multiple choice complicated but the rest was alright except for the last question, that lost me. The only thing was I ran out of time and left questions blank. :( I couldve finished everything if I had the time ...
