Rofl I got that topic in round 4 (in May) which was the only round we lost as well. The topic I had in round 5 this year (performance enhancing drugs in sport) was also a D grade topic a couple of years ago.

Good job DAV, keeping the topics fresh as always.  ::)

Is anyone an adjudicator or thinking of attending the adjudicator training sessions?
I'm considering doing it except I'm not too sure what's involved/don't think I'd be good at it.

you get to judge people, abuse them and make them feel bad for the evening, what's not to like about this?

I signed up for a session in a few weeks time (not too sure either what you're taught/supposed to do in training but I'll report back on how it goes if you're curious)

I think it would be really cool if we can post and discuss topical issues here - basically an online forum debate. Considering everyone on this thread enjoys debating seems like a good idea.

Well I'm going to the one this Saturday 23rd (they offered an extra one)
Apparently from the website you have to complete a written theory test and adjudicate a debate from a video!

I can just so imagine if you get to judge a secret topic and the topic ends up being something like fracking this year which you don't know about :-\

All the secret topics are pretty common sense tbqh.

The fracking was a prepared topic so all adjudicators will see them in advance.

Fracking was such a fun topic to do even though half the debate was defining what fracking was

In all honesty, while I love debating, i know i'd probably be a biased adj and therefore probably not gonna sign up in order to not ruin the lives of keen aspiring young debaters who actually take DAV seriously :P
