Personally I think the modules are easier mainly because they are more essay orientated
Are you kidding me! I literally got a tiny bit of inspiration out of Asuna from SAO and wrote a creative that's not anywhere based off her.

I personally think that Paper 1 is easier. The creative writing can be a bit dodgy sometimes, but I normally centralise my story around one of the unseen texts and throw in a plot twist ;D
Also, for the essay I can normally spin my essay into using the stimulus and one of the unseen texts ;)
Naughty, I know, but the deconstructing has already been done! Why waste time and memory capacity knowing another text youll only use one or twice?
My opinion on things  ;D

I am certainly no whiz at this so don't take my opinion as a whole but I would reckon one should be able to write at least 4-5 pages in a standard BOSTES examination booklet, or around 1000 words. The minimum would float around 800, because under 800 words you are struggling to have a well thought out, sustained response (which will be in every second marking criteria, and if not, the markers will still froth if you've made it sustained)

There is no maximum, but just be careful not to fill up pages just because it looks good that you did 7 pages. Someone could have done 4 pages of actual analysis and beat someone with 7 pages of waffle.

My 2¢ (which doesn't get much in the world today ;))

I thought that Paper One was easier because the three different elements were so different that it was like starting a new activity with each one + less preparation work, because you can't prepare for the unseen texts. As for paper 2, although I was so prepared for it that nearly everything was memorised, I still struggled to keep a strong pace the entire way through the exam, because you are just spitting at knowledge to three different modules, whereas paper one has that extra variation :)

BUT, paper one will be harder for some people simply because it is the first exam!

If anyone has done / is doing Brave New World for Module C (elective - politics), would you be able to tell me whether the failed riot started by John the Savage is a representation of politics? If it is, how is it one?

Thanks! i am writing my essay right now and will send it soon for feedback. :)

Hey there Kimmie!!

That is definitely the way I would go about it. Come up with three themes/values/ideas that you can relate to the question and discuss each in its own paragraph. That will create a conceptual structure, which is fantastic.

As for the sorts of themes to cover, it really depends on your knowledge of the text (I don't know much about this one). The question links the film to vanity and loss, so your themes would revolve around losses of different types, feelings of worthlessness, effects of loss, effects of vanity, etc etc. I can't give any more detailed suggestions without knowing your text unfortunately!! Hopefully this gets you started or maybe someone else who knows Citizen Kane can help out?  ;D

I would agree with study buddy above!! 1000 words would be the aim, but I'd lower the minimum ever so slightly to 750  ;D of course, quality over quantity as always!!  ;D

Hmm, I've studied Brave New World! Not sure how the failed riot would be representative of politics off the top of my head: Tell me what you are thinking!!  ;D

Hey!

I was wondering for the area of study discovery how many related texts that we should look at? the actual exam only asks for one but my teacher said to do at least 2 or 3, is it better to do 2 or 1?

The exam hasn't specified the use of two other related texts (ORTs) since before you and I started high school! Not to say it won't happen again, but by trends it isn't a popular prediction. I studied just the one, and made sure that it was one that had lots of different angles. I did consider a second text, and I even chose it, just for the purpose of trying to give myself plenty of options in an exam. However, I never really dived into studying it because I knew I had a good text that had lots to work with, and I didn't want to spare time and brain space for a new text!

So, it comes down to choice. I would suggest that a third text is excessive, and if you honestly felt the need for a third text then you probably haven't selected a first or second related text well enough, because you still feel it is lacking. So, again, it is your choice! But, with a solid ORT choice to begin with, I don't know that it is necessary :)
