Any suggestions on what two good idea that go together while looking at the connections between "Richard III" and "Looking for Richard"?

Thanks.

Hi all,

How should I state the effect of a technique, like how does descriptive language or happy tone convey an element of representation for mod c

Here's a hypothetical example!

"The descriptive language in the environmental imagery represents the tangible and rich experience of Henry's memories of his childhood on the farm."

Basically, you need to link it back to the relationship between people and politics or people and landscapes, whichever your elective is. So, think about the way such a relationship, or such experiences, are created/represented in a literary environment :)

Hey :) I studied these two texts! If you like, you can download my essay in the notes section - type in Mod B and it'll come up in there. There might be some other essays from this topic there too!

Here are some points of discussion between the texts:
-Use of the medium/media of the time
-Government
-Power
-Humour/Insults
-The agenda of each composer in the creation of their text
-Representation of personas
-Interaction between characters
-Female characters

:)

Hey Guys,

Any suggested related texts for Module C, representing people and politics?

Mary x
Hey!
I did the HSC last year (2017) and my 10 units were English Advanced, English Extension 1, English Extension 2, Legal Studies, Maths and Studies of Religion 2. I achieved my ATAR aim of over 90!

I loved tutoring and running essay writing workshops (privately and at InFlow Education) so much that I decided to study a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in English and minoring in Maths!

If you're thinking about tutoring, let me know x

Hey Mary! The novella Candide by Voltaire worked really well for me! Teachers (especially the teachers at your school... I wonder how I know that?  ;)) really love philosophical and theoretical integration within Mod C essays, so using a text that was literally written by a philosopher (that is still pretty easy to understand) is always a plus! I also used Ronald Reagan's 'Evil Empire' speech as my back up, and that worked well also!

Woo it feels good to finish writing an essay :D Next task up, Mod C : Brave New World.

I've been looking around for related texts, I've checked out that forum with a list as well as the notes section. Jamon, you seem to really like V for Vendetta and I've skimmed your essay for it. I might do that because I'll have a model essay to look at. On the other hand Animal Farm seems like a rather interesting text that could be done but as you mentioned it's overused. I've also been told to use NOT a book as BNW is a book itself. What is a good related with plenty of resources around that is effective? 1984 would be fantastic if it were allowed :(

Backwater gospel is pretty good as it presents the pastor/priest controlling the town and exerting power to get rid of the 'bad apple' that is the guy playing the guitar. Also the undertaker is a representation of death (representation module) etc.

It's alright to use common related texts as long as you make it unique

I think you've got some stellar suggestions already, but consider the film Dr Strangelove: or How I Learned to stop worrying and love the bomb. It's a satire, if you like that. I studied it for Extension English, so I've analysed it in the Ext 1 note section if you want some inspo. In terms of entertainment, I actually didn't like it, but analysing a political satire was fun and challenging!

I've had a look but I don't think I would be too interested in it :( V for Vendetta does look incredibly appealing though.

Has anyone seen Snowden? It can draw many parallels to BNW but I'm unsure of using it as a related. Are there reasons I shouldn't? V for Vendetta seems appealing because of the resources available for it already.

Cheers, Wales

You should use Easter 1916 as a basis, it covers multiple aspects of Yeats' poetry and includes references to all.

I personally used Easter 1916, Irish Airman and When You Are Old. Ultimately it's down to HOW you interpret the poems. Are there any specific ones you have a interest towards? I personally hated the mythological side so I avoided discussing it and focused on political aspects of his poetry instead.
