Any new year 10 students can sit the the methods test or just invited students based on entry maths & numerical reasoning results? any ideas?
I think you need to have completed year 10 maths to be eligible to sit the test.

I think I heard someone on this forum talk about how they knew a few people who had only completed year 9 maths and still got in.

I heard 80-100 people try out and 50 get in. Does anything JMSS student know the format of the test. Is there any extended response questions or are most of it short answer?

Any student can sit the test. It's called the methods readiness test so they don't test on problem solving skills but skills you would of learnt in year 10 maths e.g. factorising, expanding, trigonometry, completing the square, quadratic formula, alegbra, linear, parabolas and some geometry stuff.

All short answer and some multiple choice (unless it's been changed)??

Best tip I can give is revise on year 10 content and you should be fine.

Guys the methods test is on the 17th of October from 3:30 to 4:30pm on a Tuesday. Check the JMSS calendar

You're right D:
It's so early, wtf?

They need time to compile names before orientation camp so they can hand out holiday homework booklets.

Yeah understandable XD
But wew, time flies by too fast

Ugh, I'm kinda freaking out about the methods test D:
The topics you mentioned before are stuff I already know how to do, yet I feel nervous XD

Just revise your year 10 book, don't stress, it's not supposed to challenge you.

It's the thought "these people are way smarter than me" that scares me XD
If anything, these things feel relaxing to do. Things will be okay

If there is only about 100 people that turn up for the methods test it should be fine

Hopefully. Though, it's kind of scary when you don't know how well you'll do in comparison to others.

Yeah I know but we should do fine. I'll probably just revise some of the topics i heard a vast majority of the test is quadratics. I know someone who forgot the quadratic formula and still made it in. I think last year 4 people got accepted into JMSS and all made it into the Methods class. We shouldn't stress about it too much.

yeah, I forgot the quadratic formula. revise completing the square, null factor and of course quadratic formula for the quadratics portion.

Man, completing the square's such a pain in the ass to do XD
You guys make the methods test sound relatively easy (though, I'm probs gonna make a lot of small mistakes XD).

I pretty much have the quadratic formula stuck in my head. Do we need to also know the discriminant?
