Didn't to selective this year since in year 7 I didn't care about it but now I do! GUYS IM SO WORRIED I WANT TO STUDY ALL THE THINGD IN THR NEXT 6 MONTHS BEFORE DOING A SELECTIVE COURSE NEXT YEAR! Any one HELP!!!!!
Hey there!
Don't stress out. Since you're in Year 7, you still have a lot of time to prepare yourself for the test. I don't recommend doing a selective course or expensive tutoring. You seriously don't need it. Places like James Ann really aren't that effective because they give you work that is way harder than the actual test. So, save yourself time and money by not doing it.
You should understand basic science concepts. Whatever your school teaches you through year 7-9 should suffice. if you don't already know, the JMSS test format works like this:
• Science reasoning
• Numerical reasoning
• Prac report
• Mathematics
• Scientific essay/response
To be honest, for the science reasoning, you don't have to study a whole lot for it. They give you the information and graphs, so if you think logically, you should be fine.
The two essays give you a lot of information, so even if you don't know much about it, you can still write an essay about it.
For maths, you should probably try to focus on learning Year 8 and 9 stuff. Try to do it quickly and not make many mistakes.
For numerical reasoning, improve at worded questions and number patterns.
