Used to believe the world was black and white in the olden times after seeing old films on TV. Then the world suddenly just turned into colour.
I only remember this because I asked a question about this in year 2 ;D

This is bad...but yeh!!
I used to think I would be able to catch up to my older sister in age...I was seriously disappointed when I realised that I would always have to be one year younger... ::) ;D

When I was a child, I used to think that when a couple got married, the wife got immediately pregnant (like 1-3 days after the wedding).
Year 5 science class sure did put things into perspective :/ A boy in my class fainted while learning about sex education.

When I was a kid, I used to think the only difference between automatic and manual transmission in cars was that in manual, you had to manually turn off the indicator, and in auto, you didn't. I realised a few years down the track that it was a bit more complicated than that.  :P

Lol. I used to think that babies came into the existence via air suction of the mothers belly button.

Some of these replies are great! I used to do the cemetery breath holding too.

An odd belief of mine was that coffee contained alcohol and could only be consumed by adults. Also, not really a belief, but Dobby from harry potter used to scare the crap out of me - now he's kind of cool haha.

Haha I used to believe something similar. This is probably something that a lot of people believed in, but I thought that the mother's belly button was cut open and the baby was removed. A few years before that, I thought that at night, the parents of a child prayed to God to give them a baby, and the next morning a baby would be laying next to them.

I used to believe in some weird shit back in the day.

This was what my parents told me too!

I used to think that back when my parents were little children, that everything was black and white- like in reality there was no color. That is how I used to imagine the olden days [guess it was because all my parents childhood pics were black and white]

I used to think that the amount of time we had left to live was measured in the number of breaths we had left. So if you breathed a lot as a kid, you wouldn't have enough breaths for when you're older and you'd therefore die earlier (unless of course you died prematurely in an accident or something). So when I was younger I used to hold my breath for extended periods of time because I thought I was 'saving' breaths for the future, so I'd have enough breaths for when I became old.  ;D ;D ;D

OMG I thought of something similar, but the difference was that if I talked too much, I was losing out on time for the future lol. Weird stuff.

When I was little, I thought monsters were real (probably because of the story book I was reading).
I thought they would leap out from their hiding place behind the toilet and that they were climbing up the house as I slept.
Imaginative times....

Nothing beats the ol' spending your young childhood thinking it was illegal to drive with the lights on inside of your car at night :P

I DIE! WHY DID OUR PARENTS MAKE IT SEEM LIKE THE END OF THE WORLD IF WE DID IT LMAO

"If you make a face and the wind changes you'll be stuck with that face". I remember there was a story about this that used to convince everyone, but in my family we took it one step further, with dad making up this elaborate mechanism about how it actually happens and how he had a couple of people he'd worked with that it happened to. Pretty sure his bullshit was so convincing that he actually believes it's true now HAHA
Im actually dying omg my mum ALWAYS told me this
This thread is amazing ahahahaha
