I would have loved to have waited until I was 18 to move out. However, it happened a few years earlier (albeit on-and-off) due to a poor homelife. I'm now the head of a household of 5 (inc. me). I will, however, be moving out at the end of next year -- a few months before I turn 20 -- so I can move to the other side of Melbourne in order to attend university (assuming I get into Monash).

So I suppose my answer will be similar to a lot of people in that it's for university, except it'll be out of my own household haha
Won't you be going to uni in 2018? I thought you finished VCE this year?

I'm outta here in a year and a half for uni. My family is shit so getting out of here asap.
Yeah this was my feels hahaha. (My family are actually good people, I'm just a prick).

It will be exciting to live away from home. Definitely ready for it, I feel.

i don't think i'd like to move out when i turn 18, because financial stability is something I'd prioritise once out of school and i like being at home with family (most of the time). if i can get home cooked meals, wifi, water, electricity, heating for a small amount of rent paid to my parents every week, i think that's a lot better than moving out and having to manage finances.

I'm exactly the same. I have been offered a full-time job for next year where I would do Uni externally. Although not ideal as I would like to experience the Uni lifestyle, the long-term financial gains achieved by investing while you're young are significant. If I start investing $500 every month at an interest of 7%, by the time I'm 60 It will be worth 1.5 mill. If I start doing this at 25, it would only be worth 900k. There is no way I could save $500 a month living out of home.

My family has the rule that we have to move out by 25. In my parents' original conception they sorta expected we'd be married by that age (none have been lol), and it's sorta worked out with my five older siblings that 25 is the time to move out, so that's the expectation on me as the 6th.

We'll see if I follow that or not - depends whether I choose to go in the general direction of their other expectations, or to rebel completely.

Also tbh me looking after myself alone for even 24 hours would be a friggin' disaster right now. 😂😂😂

I guess I've moved out since I've moved interstate for uni??
Like, I still have a lot of my shit at home, but yes, I live on campus at uni for the time being and I've only been back to Melbourne once since February.

But to answer the question, if I didn't come here for uni, I'd never want to move out. Personally, I don't see the point of it tbh. Saves a lot of money. I still have the same amount of freedoms anyway (actually living on my own I do have some minor freedoms such as midnight snacking), but yeah, living with your parents = parents doing chores which is good.

Literally just made toast, opened the butter, fucking shit loads of crumbs everywhere. Last month there was mould in the butter because of crumbs - like, new butter. Just, mould starting to form. How about DON'T LEAVE CRUMBS IN THE MOTHERFUCKING BUTTER?

When you move out, I will hunt you down, I will break in at the dead of night, and I will leave crumbs in your butter.

Yes, this is a threat.

Oh that's rank as 😷

By far the worst thing is making your own appointments. Like, I'm an adult, but not an adult enough to feel confident ringing up the doctors or dentist to make an appointment.
Oh, and it's easy to forget to make/eat dinner. Literally only just finished cooking dinner 10 minutes ago haha

Hence why I love online appointments. Also, as someone with a speech impediment, talking on the phone to strangers is soooOOOOO much worse

Y'know, even if I was being murdered, I wouldn't call 000. Just too awkward. I wish you could text 000 instead

'Help, there's a ducking intruder in my house right now'

Living with other under 30s abroad was the best time of my life!!

Pasta for breakfast? That's ok! Wanna have friends over? That's ok! Leaving the house at 11pm? No one to answer to! Never suffering with people eating my avocados! Being able to certify that my white clothes will not be washed with mum's bright red shirt! Music playing when I'm cooking! No need to tell mum my every move for the next 8 weeks in advance so she can write it on the fridge!!!

Now I'm back home and intentionally wait up until everyone is gone to bed, and then I sit in my room and just read, listen to music, something so I can just exist in the silence of simulating me living out of home.

Working a full time job will be the day I move out in Syd. I work a full time load but one of the jobs requires me to stay where I am now, way away from the city where Uni is. And I'd only move if I was making my commute easier. Worked out I've been in transit for 11 hours this week already!! ! ! ! LOVE MY LIFE
