When do you wanna move out? Why?

For ages, I wanted to move out when I turned 18 (yeah right). By the time I was 18 I'd been in a relationship for 2 years so it was sort of like- either move out together or don't move out at all. Stayed home, it was easy.

NOW... my dad's like 3 hours away, and my mum's selling the childhood house by the end of this year so like, I've actually gotta find a fucking place to live and be a normal adult and whatever else. Which is good, but definitely promoted by circumstance 😂

Is this something you think about now, in high-school, or in early uni?

I would have loved to have waited until I was 18 to move out. However, it happened a few years earlier (albeit on-and-off) due to a poor homelife. I'm now the head of a household of 5 (inc. me). I will, however, be moving out at the end start of next year -- a few months before I turn 20 -- so I can move to the other side of Melbourne in order to attend university (assuming I get into Monash).

So I suppose my answer will be similar to a lot of people in that it's for university, except it'll be out of my own household haha

Edit: Cheers to Brenden for the catch

Moving out at the end of this year or early next year bc my family lives too far away from Monash to realistically commute. It sucks because I have to be responsible with my money. It's cool because I'll only have to do my own dishes (and I'll be furthering my education, I guess ::)).

This is something that I think about (closer to uni, potentially closer to work), but the cost of living is through the roof in sydney!
LOOK at the prices of the rent in the below website....
IT's easy to find rent < 300 in Melb, but it's very hard in Syd.. as shown... :( :(

Already moved out 8)

Moved out for uni. It's great, and I'd never be able to move back in with my family after this haha. Don't know what I'm gonna do when my occupancy period on res ends in December, the thought of being home until the start of February when my occupancy period for 2018 on res would start, gives me nightmares.

I always knew that I was gonna move out after finishing high school - growing up rurally, you know that you have to either move out, or commute for a ridiculous amount of time in order to go to uni basically. Both of my brothers moved out when they started uni, so it was the natural progression of things for me to do this as well. Also, I really was keen to move out. And I think my parents were keen for me to move out too :P

Honestly, so so good. You don't know how good it is and what you've been missing until you move out. Sure, there's some sucky responsibilities. But the freedom is worth it.

Ahh yes, the uni student struggles of life. It's character building haha
Going from a home that had a dishwasher, to now having to do my dishes by hand, that's the worst. Dishes are the worst.

When I am financially in a position to go out on my own. My aim now that I am working full time is to build up a bank of cash for a deposit, reduce my HECS debt (40k) etc...then I may start thinking about moving out :)

I've probably spent a year total with a dishwasher (years ago). I am getting one in this new place I'm leasing, so I suppose I'm here to brag :P I find it's much less tedious to do housework with music blaring really loud to drown out the thoughts of aaarrghhhIhateverymomentofthis

:'(

I just tell myself how hand washing dishes is the necessary evil of living out of home, and that comforts me. At least I only have to wash my dishes, and not load the dishwasher full of other people's dishes (speaking of which, why do my family get me to load the dishwasher when I go visit? I didn't make a single one of those dishes dirty)

Doing the dishes by hand isn't so bad! :) (Considering I'm still at home and we don't have a dishwasher! :P )

I don't actually know when I'll move out, considering my parents only recently gave me keys to the house :P but hey, I get heaps of bonding time with the younger siblings, which I honestly don't mind. :)

i never really thought about moving out until last year, i guess. the idea of more freedom is obviously quite appealing, especially coming from an asian family where going out isn't something i do too often (of course, a lot of that not going out is my decision). i don't think i'd like to move out when i turn 18, because financial stability is something i'd prioritise once out of school and i like being at home with family (most of the time). if i can get home cooked meals, wifi, water, electricity, heating for a small amount of rent paid to my parents every week, i think that's a lot better than moving out and having to manage finances. i will move out maybe by the time i'm in my early twenties, and even then, that's very far into the future.
