WHY IS THE STUDENT UNION SUPPORTING THIS? I thought the whole point of the union was to look out for OUR welfare, not the teachers. Not releasing our grades which we have a right to know is NOT beneficial for us.

The question is more like "why wouldn't the student union support this?"

How cynical of me

Can we find out our exam results from instructors before the 11th (or 10th?)?

I doubt it.  There is one thing you can do (read top of the UoM forum) to get your results a day earlier then they are released, but I don't think they're allowed to actually say what your results are (just like staff @ UoM aren't allowed to talk about the location / time / date of any exams, so that the blame cannot be placed on them)

Quote from: Peter McDonald, Program Director for the Software Engineering & Computer Science degrees
Hi Folks,

You'll be pleased to hear that as of this afternoon, the NTEU (Staff) Union has agreed to lift their bans on providing RMIT with results. This is as a result of RMIT agreeing to provide better and safer conditions for our sessional/contract staff.

All course leaders who have not already uploaded their results to the University computer systems will do so later today or tomorrow, which means that over the next two days you will find more, and eventually all, of your results available via the online results system.

This also means that program coordinators will be able to easily determine the outcomes of graduation applications. So the biggest potential headache is over. There may be one or two courses for which results are delayed a little further because manual entry of results may be required. I know a couple of full-year courses (eg. 3rd Year SE Internship course) where a problem arose with semester 1 results reverting from RW to NN because semester 2 results were not entered in time (due in large part to the union action). All will be sorted soon.

Seriously this results ban is like going to the country of your dreams and being mugged there.
Is that for Finance 101 only? I hope I get to have a look at my Management paper. I booked a time last sem for Finance but forgot to go :(

Wait...wait...wait just 1 moment. You did one of these things last semester? So where do you go and does this mean I may still get my results on the 11th? Where do you go?

Quantum, do you realize that this is for students wishing to inspect their exam papers to see where they went wrong, and doesn't have anything to to do with the results ban?

That email you've got is for viewing your exam paper. Last semester we had to make an appointment at the Commerce student centre (there wasn't an online booking system). And I think the exam viewing happens at the Student Centre at The Spot. I think it should say somewhere when you sign up...

If you don't get your results on the 11th, those who signed up get to see their marks on the 14th :P

My bad!

Just realised this and as you have seen I have removed one of my posts and edited the other. I am truely sorry if I have caused any disturbances, but I am just in a panic at the moment with the results ban. PLUS no other subjects of mine have allowed me to inspect my exam paper.

QuantumJG -- it's far easier to apply for an exemption and just lie about your circumstances. I did this with little to no effort. It was about 2 lines. It was vague.

And they said yes.

And if they hadn't, I would have ranted more about NTEU and their disrespect for student privacy.
