Idk like its also that if everyone could get a high enter like in the 97+ region then im sure people would try. Its just not everyone's cup of tea.
but with yr 12 for me next year, I dont have a mind set of its not possible. More a mind set of I'm going to give it all and study like hell and atleast then ill know I tried.
or is it never enough to know that "atleast you tried". ?
Having an attitude "I can't get a 99.95 why bother" is a recipe for disaster. Having an attitude "I can't get a 99.95, but I am aiming for 94" is a better attitude because you have some form of goal and you aren't throwing in the towel before you start the game.
If you start this year with an attitude that you will give it your all atleast this is some form of positive attitude, but set yourself a goal, this is something that may make you go out of your comfort zone, something that you need to push yourself to get.
In year 12 I had goals such as:
- Maths Methods - I said that I will aim for a 40, my methods teacher told me to aim for something like 35, so I had a desire to prove I could do better. I got 39, so I was happy with that.
- Chemistry - I decided to just have fun, give my best and ask my chemistry teacher what he thought I could get (38 - I got 37 pretty close).
- English - The subject I had the worst attitude for! Basically starting year 12 I was like "I hate English, I'll try and wing it". SAC's would come up and I would be like "Don't know how to prepare for SAC's, I'll do some maths". I got a 30 from having shocking nightmares relating to sitting my exam.
- Physics - I got dux for physics in year 11, had an attitude that getting at least 45 would be easy. Unit 3 was pretty easy and just got more and more confident, unit 4 exam I mucked up from not doing enough practice to avoid making careless mistakes. I got a 39 for physics which I knew I could have done better in if my attitude was different.
- Specialist Maths - Very interesting, yet a very difficult subject. I had an attitude that I would do my best and see how I go attitude. I spent a lot of time on this subject just to be able to have some understanding of the concepts. Got a 33 which wasn't too bad.
My goal was to get into a BSc at Melbourne so I had an attitude that I want a 92 or 93, but only needed an 85. Or as Mick Jagger once said "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you get what you need".
