Recently I have heard rumours that u need to get an A+ on any given exam to get a study score of 40+ ? Is this true as on Mao's calculator it states that u can still get 40+ with a high A

This rumour is untrue, you don't need all A+s to get a SS above 40.  I got 42 in Methods with an A in Exam 1.

I got an A on the IT exam and got 42.

So no you don't need  3 A+'s to get 40+. The only weird thing is that some people get 3 A+'s and are shocked that they get 37-38. ( all depends on the subject)

Depends on the subject and it's difficulty. Humanities (BM, Legal, Physc etc.) you would most likely have to because they're more competitive and easier, so more people get higher marks. Some maths and science subjects however would not require an A+ on the exam to get above 40.

Bah I hate the way VCAA works. They should give us our results which are not as vague as a letter grade T__T then we can spot errors (if they ever happen...) much more easier

I think it's to compensate for the lack of funding they receive from the government.  Also, I think the letter grades mean that VCAA will receive a lot less angry complaints because there is less transparency involved, if that makes much sense.

Additionally, if you don't get the mark(s) you want, the letter grade looks much better than the actual mark.  For example:

UG, E, E+

would look better on the paper than:

1/50, 14/80, 16/80 - as an example.

Agreed! Does anyone know someone who has actually purchased these marks?

I know Fyrefly has purchased one before for her sister and I think she posted a screenshot somewhere.
