Maybe you could go and purchase your Uni texts early and start reading them Nova. :P

My mother actually wanted to go buy my Uni books a few weeks ago, but then she realised I don't actually have a uni placement yet thus unsure of what texts I'll actually need
We are unable to buy them until the first lecture. Because my friend said "the lecturers tell you what books you do and do not need"

Far out it's such a hassle, I need to prepare the money ASAP  by knowing what price I am looking at, how can I be expected to buy books by the "next lecture", I want to do some pre-reading in my free time.

I was hoping to just trust the booklist on the site or whatever.....but I don't want it to be like high school were 1/4 of the books you never touch or use. And at Uni this is more significant because of the higher cost.

damn i thought we would get a booklist of some kind when we enroll, giving us at least a few days or so to read the book
you could always get a book similar to what you will need, ie if ur doing microeconomics just go to the library and find a book that teaches basic microeconomics, even if its not the same book you will still have some knowledge which can only help you (my friend did this before doing MUEP economics last year at it seemed to help him)

Yes, of course I'm excited about Uni! So many new places to explore, new things to learn, new people to meet! Oh, and I can't wait to join a few different clubs. Number one on the list is MUSKI, aka Melb Uni Ski Club. :D :D
When I get sad, I stop being sad, and be AWESOME instead. True story.

Yeah I've realised that maths textbooks for the first 2 years are the same no matter which copy you pick up. If I wanted to I could go grab a calculus book that covers 1.5 years of uni maths

This happened to me last year with my uni books and I'm finding it really difficult to sell them! :(

With uni first try and see if the lecture notes cover everything you need. I spent $200 on textbooks for my maths subjects and then realised that they sold a lecture notes compilation worth $13 a subject covered everything I needed to know and basically had $200 worth of books lying around.

I need to sell these books, why am I telling you guys this?

LOL.

I've sold all my uni maths books.
But thats because I sold them for really really really cheap (eg: Calculus book =$60).

I can't wait till uni as well.
In the meantime, Im going to revise some fluid mechanics so that Im ready for semester 1.

it feels like im gonna get to uni and have to spend half a semester trying to get my brain working again :P

It'll take about 3 weeks... that's the point where you'll shit yourself when you realise you have 3 assignments due in week 5, and you're 2 weeks behind in your readings so you've got no fkin idea what you're doing.

Like lots of the other new year 12s who've posted, I'm excited for university, even though it's a year away. I haven't been too bored these holidays though - it might be due to the fact that I've been away (and that I'll be going away again in a few days).

In saying that, I'm also excited about year 12, even though it seems quite daunting at this stage.

Lol.

I have a feeling it may take longer than 3 weeks this year. I looked through my first year physics book and I have forgotten so much. Not to forget a lot of preparation came from cramming for the exam due to the speed of things.
